1685......Hydrostream Ventrua 2 Rebuild
1685
One thousand Six hundred eighty five…………… pounds!
That’s the weight of my Ventura 2 in 2004 on the Baker Marine scales with a Small lawn tractor battery, 3 gallons of fuel, an 1985 looperV4 with bolt on mods and my 200lbs on board.
She was never a light weight but Sixteen hundred eighty five pounds… LOL
The best speeds were 77mph with horrible handling. The Bottom was power hooking and spider cracks were developing all over the running surface.
Something had to be done!
Fall 2007
If someone has an earlyer pic please send it to me.
I will up date the above pic later but this is in pretty raw form....
AND the Tear out begins!

Apparently some boats would have double flotation tanks depending on when they were built. The early designs (inner tank) was deemed not sufficient by coast guard regulations and a second larger tank was employed over the top. This one wasn't even filled with foam.
The port side foam was FULL of water and nastiness. The starboard side was pretty much dry.

Hey Chris!
I am just revisiting the re-core of my boat in 2007-08
The original post was lost due to the Image host shutting down.
I have been wanting to re-post everything because it was fun and Informative.
The Hydrostream 2013 thread gave me the motivation... Among some other thingsLast edited by Laker; 01-05-2013 at 12:27 AM.

Construction is sooo different from the early boats. My '76 doesn't have the foam boxes on the sides. Only foam under the front seat box and two small spots on each side of the bow under the deck. I hope mine comes in much much lighter.

My 78 didn't have foam boxes only the two spots under the deck ,and I too hope that mine weighs less than that, comparatively speaking as I only weigh 142 lbs
