    Best Prop for Mercury 250XS?

Currently running a 25P Fury on a 2013 Mercury 250XS. Boat is a 2006 21' Champion Elite 206. Chine walking pretty good at 65mph, while turning 5200rpm's, WOT is yet unknown. Wanting the speed with a little more bite.

BTW, the 2006 225 Evinrude E-tec take-off is for sale!

    Welcome to S&F!!!!

Sounds like your setup is off a little? May need to raise the engine a little to help
eliminate the chine walking. It normally starts around 65 mph when the motor is too low.
You need to get past that & get some good numbers of rpm & speed before we can help
    with a prop recommendation.
I know a lot of guys with your combination run the Fury & seem happy with it... especially after I put my "mod job" to them!!!

So, work on the setup some more & we'll be able to help you.
    Thanks,
    Tim Bostic

the fury is the most common prop on that rig.

however a modified tempest depending on weight of a 25 or 26 is much better.
reason is.. you can run a tempest higher and it helps eliminate the chine walking.

Prop Shaft is ~ 4" below pad. Also, Fury prop has all three solid (PVS) plugs installed, would this have any impact on my holeshot being terrible as well? I don't believe these plugs have any impact on top-end speed, although I could be wrong.

Pull the plugs. That will definitely help with holeshot.

If you find that it ventillates too much getting out of the hole then put one or two back in.

Yeah, 4" below the pad is on the low side. When you trim out, the cavitation plate starts dragging in the water
causing the dreaded "chinewalking".... the solution is to raise the engine. Do not raise it too high & loose water pressure to the engine. Also need to check for any looseness in the steering or mounting systems. If you can shake the motor back & forth, then when you get up to speed and have to start "driving" the boat, you'll always be behind trying to catch up with the walking.
    Hope this helps a little?

Good info about the vent plugs!!!

Fury's don't come with vent plugs in the barrell. never had to put em in when that prop is on a mercury.

i'd set the prop height at 3.5" below pad with a fury.
    3.25 below with a tempest.

    test from there.
the 206 champ's just don't run really good with a motor really high. that's why so many guys love the fury on the 206 and 210's killer holeshots.
