Some S glass stronger in tension than carbon.
Kevlar works best to stop fittings being ripped out or boats coming inside yours.
Carbon very stiff, thats its leading property.
    They all do different things.

Yikes! I was watching that race. They were flying! Then out of nowhere the motor falls off! I know these are raceboats. And they are run hard. But, I would definitely think twice about spending that kind of money on a DW.

    .

I too was watching the race...at the end of the race I was going to find a shot where LPC was pointed to the moon...then the motor fell off..

They definitely deserved to win the way they were flying on the race course...but I guess there was too much stress on the boat

if it was my coin$, I would still buy a DW....what you're seeing here cannot be explained because we don't know what the racer has requested from DW.

...were there mods made to the hull after delivery to racer ?

...were old motor mount holes plugged correctly prior to new ones drilled out?

...was there a prior crash that weakened the hull / transom and the hull was not put back 100% to racing standard?

    ...we just don't know

...but if that's your coin$ and your feelings about DW, you have the right to feel that way

additionally, these racers , even after their boat crumpled in the stress of a crash, still go back to DW to buy a race boat from them. , because there really is not a better competing cat in this class , at least not yet ..

    a prior race ..

that makes sense now. But it does seem like these boats are built to the ragged edge. That's a racers mentality!

Didn't he blow over a couple years ago and I heard the transom was fixed but not by Doug Wright. That is going to one expensive repair. Are they going to recover the engine?

Colin Chapman once said that a race car should fall apart on the victory lap.

Just got back from races. Jackhammer leads the pack again.

Billy Moore in Graydel delivers again too.

I wish all the races were bumpy like this and Cocoa. Rough enough to weed out the unworthy.

they do have a full stringer in between the the motor mounts on the port side. not sure if they're there after the transom was rebuilt , additionally, the tunnel has 3 more full stringers , and lastly the stringer on the stbd sponson...

If you cant afford to throw the whole thing away ... they say you shouldn't be doing it in the first place.

And I rekkon the reason they run SS last is for the same reason they run the "B-bomber" class last at the Saturday night short track races. There are more yellow flag laps .. than green flag laps .. until they throw the red or checkers because of all the debris on the track.

Only difference being you can run a $300 dollar junk yard beater in one .. the other take a $300,000 investment ...In order to go to the front .. Driving style appears to be the same ..

This event SS ran followed by Class one, Super Cat ran last. Wind started to blow during the Single V race at 10, blowing hard by SS. calming by Super Cat but still bumpy. They raced at about 100 mph.
