What ever happened to Rumble on the River
Just curious why this died. Was it a township thing? Not saying there needs to be any races but wondering if there is a reason why there wouldn't be interest to get something fired back up again in Carrollton for a river run weekend.

Yes, I started and ran it the first few yrs.
It was my baby and I devoted that part of my life to it and it consumed me.
176 boats, and 9 pages in Hot Boat mag at its zenith.
I had and made many friends that planned their vacations around that event.
Many, many great stories.
I handed the bataan to my buddy who lived there in Carrollton and I took a break.
He made it a much more casual event (way easier to manage w/a regular life) and kept it alive.
It eventually burned him out too and he needed and took a brake.
While on his sabbatical, ( the first yr!) some of the fans of the event/members on this board decided that was unacceptable and chose to run it themselves.
In Carrollton where my bud lives.
They (w/o consulting said bud), contacted the city officials (in his home town!) to try and make the needed connections etc.
This group wanted to use that name that we founded.
Me and said bud, both being red necks, after devoting yrs of our lives to that event, agreed to say no.
That group chose to proceed, regardless.
They basically attempted a hostile takeover and held their event, in Carrollton.....
I think a dozen or so boats showed up.
If they had left it alone, the Rumble would likely be alive and well.
After those events, I doubt it will ever happen again.Last edited by Instigator; 07-13-2019 at 06:51 AM.

Gary, why not fire this ole girl back up? I know it takes a bunch of time and work, but doesn’t have to be as elaborate as the old days. Just thinking aloud but we need an event somewhere in the middle between Canada and Florida.

I like it!
I have a 16 ft Epic V 6
So why did you not want to support the third groups attempt to keep it running ?
If neither of you wanted to run it/Last edited by CUDA; 07-13-2019 at 05:50 PM.

Gary did an outstanding job and the memories are etched. I held the cards on one of the stops on the poker run to see a load of boat full blast heading for you. But Gary put 25 plus hours a day epic times for sure. Still got a bright yellow shirt and the year we had the make a wish kids was really special. The byuboyz was a blast many livers were tested after the runs. Putting motors together great times thanks Gary

Most have no idea what it takes to organize a run.

You’re correct most don’t know what it takes, but there are quite a few that do, and people are willing to help. For one person to run the show is awful, that’s why you need to have help.
