Wow!! That was scary just watchen knowing something bad was going to happen. Why did it blow out like that ? Video said it had a merc pro et lab finished prop, so why would it loose bite? I run my Action hard with a merc et prop and never even think about blowout! Now it will be on my mind next time out but how do you stop it from happening ?

Maybe he should try a Bullet, Stroker or an Allison next.

Larger gear case on that engine so blow out will be different. Standard dia prop on big unit. Engine height are some of the reasons for blow out not to mention trim angle.

Blow out is the prop losing thrust, motor too high prop is surfacing, too much height at speed prop runs out of water, simple

I agree with this 100% That boat acted like the motor was trimmed out of the water and had no rudder at all? Maybe this boat wasn't designed to go 100mph??? 400hp outboards on bass boats...it's a whole new world, unfortunately these two guys may have learned a lesson for all of us, just glad their OK!

Once you get it repaired they should try it again I'm sure they can give it to 104

Years ago I took a boat over to Monty, I had it looked at by two local shops, no one could get it right, I called it my salt water boat it had a old 90's stock 225 Johnson, (I've never put any of my 2.5 stuff in salt} the only mod is some epoxy in the float bowl area, In no time Monty went thru the carbs and said lets go for a test ride, he installs one of his props, goes for a 5 minute run, says its a honest 100 mph boat GPS showed 99.7 , the boats always rock solid, it has a flat 11.5 pad.
Now this boat has a 400 hp and did 102 mph, I know set up and prop is important but golly, Shazam , those two are so lucky to be OK.We have invented the world; WE see

55 seconds from 90 to 102 is a long time to try and eek it out and make a mistake ,lucky dudes for sure,400 hp should be running 100 easy with neutral trim ,not impressed to say the least in 400 r
