My first though was I bet he's a younger person ( the mystery non buyer ) .... But then I reflected on my own past experiences in the last say 10+ years or so, and too have been disappointed with how some transactions went, even with some being my age or there about.
The way I was raised, was your word and or your handshake was as binding as a signed notarized document. You tell a man your going to do something, and you do it. And if something comes up you can't ...You go see them or call them and explain what happened or why right away, you don't wait for them to hunt you down.

Quick funny story for yall.
So a while back I bought some very low miles used 20" tires for my truck from my buddy who got new rims and tires. After my truck broke I put them up for sale. Why not? I paid for them and they were still good so what the hell! This tire kicking fool comes to my house to look at them and would you believe he actually kicked the tires while standing over them looking at them. I couldn't believe my eyes. It gets better...He left without buying them. Said he would think about it and get back to me. True meaning of the word tire kickerRob Lankford

Wrong ! He was simply checking them and seeing if they can be stolen easily. Nobody else thinks that ? Trust nobody

That's "the" reason I absolutely hate selling stuff, usually 9 of the 10 people are tire kickers, most of the time when I have stuff to sell I friends that could use it and I'd rather give to them cheap than deal with the hassle

It's out of hand, I stopped putting things on Craigslist..
When did it become ok to offer under ask on an itme for sale without even seeing it? I'll let the parts sit on my shelf, the hassle is not even worth the hundred or whatever bucks

A few months ago I spent $6k replacing the motor in my 1500 also. I didn't know these 5.7's we're such turds. Only had the truck for a few months and it blew a baseball size hole through the block. New motor misfires and they can't figure it out. Wish I did more research before buying it

Damn craigslist! Too many scammers and trashbag on there. Mostly I find that these dopes come to your house to see what you have and then wait for you to go to work... so far I've bought all my outboards here on s&f and have had no problems. Bad eggs should be weeded out real fast before these trolls start making their way on here

Rob it's simple.
You are way too nice dude.
A guy screws w/paying me over a deal, by the end of wk #1 I'd know where he lives, his wife's name etc.
Just sayin..I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

I tell people to call me when they are on thier way or about an hour before. If they don't call, I don't wait. Or if they are coming to look at boats, I tell them to call the night before to confirm. If they don't call, I'm outta here!

Damn man sorry to hear that too. Yeah its amazing how many hemis have problems. The root of my issues were with the VVT (variable valve timing) and the MDS solenoids (multiple displacement solenoids) that kill four cylinders. Theres four of them under the intake on top of the block that disables the lifters shutting down those four cylinders when driving to save on fuel consumption. The system is a huge problem with a lot of people ive read. Also the infamous "hemi tick". They almost all tick very lowed when coled started for a few minutes. The damn exhaust gaskets are an issue and they heat up and then reseal them self in a few minutes and the tick sound (exhaust leak) goes away. It seems theres a lot of companys offering re manufactured 5.7 hemi long blocks for around $2500-$3000. By the time you replace all gaskets, mds solenoids,belt,fluids,a/c,water pump coolant etc and pay a shop to change it all out Its a minimum $4,000 to $6000 bill. Im thinking new ford or chevy for my next purchase. Ive owned quite a few fords and only had minor issues. No Chevy experience but willing to give one a try

I did search for low mile 5.7 hemis and couldnt find any. The lowest mile hemi I found that would fit my year was 150,000 miles and the cheapest used complete motor I found was $2,300. No way I was going with anything more than 50,000. The low mile hemi's go fast.
And change it myself? lol I dont have the tools, lift,patience,etc.etc.etcRob Lankford

Rob,
If you are going to bite the bullet for a new truck, look at a Tundra. They have a lot of power, use a lot of fuel but run forever. I run a ford diesel but they are not cheap to maintain, expensive to purchase, and unless you pull a lot of big stuff then really not necessary. I have two friends with over 400K on their tundras and they have had very few issues with either of them.
