Time to revisit this thread now that we have BRP building a V6 like no other v6 before with alterations to allow for the rod and intake ports being opposite on a V 2 stroke?
Or is that to allow for the thrust side of the piston and the exhaust port issue but thats not an issue on a DFI engine as it is on a wet crankcase engine which prefers stb exhaust so looks like its not that.
With inline engines easily making 2hp/ci and jetski/skidoo's doing nearly 4hp/ci do we need to relook at the rod slot in a v engine as you need lots of work to get to 2hp/ci in one of those?
Does a large rod slot aid filling the area under the piston but when the piston comes back down it allows the displaced charge back into the crank area and not into the transfer ports?
Is the secret of the skidoo engine the carb intake on the side of the crankcase but then its actually on the opposite side of the transfer ports?

Seadoo/skidoo have better exhaust system because they have more room to work with. They also are installed into the same sled so they know exactly what the engine will be doing on an outboard they have to be able to work in a much larger area so the tune is much different. This is one reason hotrods are built for specific use and obtain more power per inch than production. The new engine having intake the same for both bank allows for better tuning on both intake and exhaust side. An outboard also needs to start making torque at lower rpm than those in skidoos.

all true, nice clutch get get the revs on before the load, exhaust valves etc etc, they dont seem to be very reliable when you read the forums either..

Will a two stroke eng start or run with no valve of any kind on the intake.
    What do you all think?
Think of all those models of a two stroke eng showing the piston moving up and down and sucking and puking the air as it moves at 133 time in one second at 8000RPM.
Yes think about it 133 times a second. Dose this really a represent what happens?
    Looks good on paper.
Lets here your take on a 24/7 intake.
    Is it possible or not.
Have you ever seen a two stroke eng start and run with no intake valve?
That means no reeds no disk no piston port valve. Just wide open case to the carb.

There are a few people that have an engine that runs at wot but when inspected had missing reeds.
I can only assume that was the right combo so maybe very low crankcase comp and small carb so big inertia from the air?
Of course we do know the air does go back out the carb as if you use a timing light you can see the fuel go out of the carb.
A velocity stack of a certain size would fix that at a certain rpm.

I am talking about a eng with a carb over 50% of the eng boar in size. Not a broken reed but a wide open port with very large crank volume.

And its one cylinder, will need to crank at 9000rpm to start and it has a velocity stack 7 foot long..lol
    Do you have a photo?
( a DFI engine might well start thinking about it?)

Dont those little nitro motors idle at 5k rpm and run wide open at 35k?

Yah but you could prop down to 10" pitch and still go 165MPH...a 26" would go over 400!
