    Question 2.4l high idle?

What's going on guys.I got a slighb issue with one of my engines I just built.she's a carbed bridgeport and when I fired her up for the first time she has a high idle around 2g.when I pull the trigger arm all the way back towards the carbs it still has a high idle around 1500rpms.idk if it has anything to do with timing and a stator problem if any one got any pointers I would appreciate it alot thanks guys!

Or a leak in the primer, are all carb butterflys closed tight. If so you got a air leak, did you surface all the cases flat. They are always warped, don't think I ever rebuilt a motor that didn't have warped cases.

Carbs are closed.I checked the cases winter 2012 and they were all level.being that I have a 2000rpm idle what about spraying a light mist of water onto the intake to see if the rpms drop?now idk if timing would cause a high idle unless its totally out of wack?

Link and sync as in?the carbs are all sync'd together to close the same.when I get home I wanna go over my timing and I'm going to check my idle timing also.do you know what that should be set at?

No the full thing, check timing pointer position, carbs, max and idle timing.
Make sure the trigger wire harness allows for free and full movement.

With butterflys shut you set the Idle Rpm by adjusting the timing, increase timing increases rpm. What is critical is wot timing and pick up timing that is when throttle is picked up by throttle cam. Yes When you rebuild a motor the timing is usually set hi for idle because of a old inefficient motor, when it is fresh you will need to lower timing to make it idle slower cuz it's working like it should. If you did everthing right.

Not trying to be a smart azz, but you spent all that money building the engine. JMO spend a couple bucks and make sure what feeds that new engine is just as new??? With all the Ethanol problems that seem to come up one would think its the way to go.

Dave you nailed it.... I have a Bridgeport carb motor and an EFI motor....you can't rebuilt the carbs or have the injectors cleaned to often...The fuel is taking its toll and better safe that sorry for $150.....I will say I am going broke running the EFI...Fuel mileage is horrible but what can one expect running a motor at 7500-8000....LOL
