I use it all the time so I won't have to worry about if my oil is doing what it should, and when using the merc oil, I can still claim warranty on the motor if any does happen to it for some reason

Blue Marble?
What about that blue marble stuff? They make some pretty hefty claims on their web site.

Warranty
5. Your warranty will be valid with any TC-W3 oil.I use it all the time so I won't have to worry about if my oil is doing what it should, and when using the merc oil, I can still claim warranty on the motor if any does happen to it for some reasonMarkus' Performance Boating Links:

With Merc , you NEVER EVER get what you pay for. If you did, we'd all be a lot richer. You really should listen to what people are telling you on these better oils. Merc does not manufacture oil, they buy it. Many of these companies actually are in the oil business and have better products then Merc for a fact. The Merc HiPerf oil is their better oil not the Premium Plus and I would say its almost as good or possibly as good as some of the others mentioned but at a higher price. Don't be afraid to use another oil. Even the dinosaur based cheapo Techno oil at Walmart for $6 a gallon has to meet the TCW3 required test . Some oils surpass the test further then others and the guys replying to you are racers running high high rpm or engine builders that see the motors before and after they are run with various oils. Many of these guys have tried everything they can get their hands on to get that extra edge in racing or to keep their motors in tiptop condition. Listen to them, they are sharing valuable knowledge.
Penzoil for instance is available coast to coast at your friendly Walmart Superstore 24/7 and at less then 1/2 the price and is BETTER quality oil. Your warranty is in no way voided by using it. Several of the others mentioned like Alisyn , Amsoil, etc are better for certain .
NEVEREDGE: Blue Marble. As I recall, the ODBA guys were not real fond of it when they were required to use it a few seasons back. Maybe my memory is incorrect but thats what I recall. Look it up in the SEARCH, I think I remember there was a post last year about it.

I heard someone say that Klotz has zero corrosion inhibitors in it; I wonder if someone could verify or bust this?
Klotz is used at the races but then again these guys are tearing their motors down after every few runs...so any lack of corrosion protection wouldn't be an issue as it would be for the weekend warrior whose motor could go several years between teardowns.
I've run Amsoil with good results in a promax, and have run the Pennzoil 100% synthetic in my 280 up until a rod came loose. Now I'm starting over, and my first tank has the Mercury performance blend (high $$) oil at 25:1 for break-in.
I don't know WHAT to choose for an all-around good synthetic after that. I suppose I will stick with the Pennzoil 100% syn?

Klotz
The TC-W3 rated Klotz definitely has corrosion inhibitors in it. Otherwise, it would not pass TC-W3.
About the other Klotz products, I don't know, but I do know that Jay Smith thinks they do not provide enough corrosion protection.Markus' Performance Boating Links:

I have 2 280 merc's, since changing to 100% pennzoil synthetic, I have not fouled a single plug. And it does not smoke as much, 40:1 mixture.

I have seen and heard of people running the walmart supertech tcw3 stuff and it will let an eng rust up when sitting, obviously it doesn't take much to pass tcw3, as far as the corrosion protection. Thats a very minimium standard.

Corrosion protection
Stan, that sounds fishy. Pretty much any mineral oil should give decent corrosion protection.

The engs I saw personally were on a saltwater boat that would sit 2 to 3 months at a time. 150 V6 mercs. All the guy used was supertech and 1 eng threw a rod due to a rusty rod bearing and the other while still running was rusty inside. Granted sitting that long the eng should be fogged down, but we had boats that went thru alot more abusive situations running merc oil and never had any rusting problems. Also there was one guy posting on here that was running the stuff in his 225 promax and he said his oil gear was rusty when he pulled it out. I think he posted under the name of Jr.

Saltwater boats sitting 2-3 months at a time
Well, in that kind of situation, I suppose anything is possible.
