    1993 Merc 2.5 260

1993 260, 20" bass mid with CLE lower. Engine was bought new in 93 and ran what I've always been told was 2 tanks of fuel thru it on a Norris Craft sport & ski. The last time the boat was in the water was 94. The water pump had never been changed and the cover over the fuel adjustment hadn't been removed. It has spent its life in storage. I had the injectors cleaned and blueprinted along with replacing 1 with an NOS injector. New head gaskets and all new bleed lines installed. The cylinders are Nickasil plated from germany and looked great. It has an A-27 analog ECU and it runs great. The cowl has zero marks on it and it has a pro-max lower skirt. I'd rather sell the motor as complete. Prop is not included. $12500. Located in Western NC.

So if you had the injectors cleaned and bleed lines replaced blah blah blah did you fire it up yet? Can we get a video?

I can't get a video file of it running to load up on here. I do have videos of it running on a hose that I can text someone if they wish to see it. I do not have any of it running on the lake but I have taken it out a couple of times and it runs strong. Our lake is rough this time of year with all the boat traffic so I didn't turn it over 6200 or so and after sitting so many years the steering cables are tighter than I'd like to have to run fast But the Norris Craft honestly surprised me. It's running a 27 SRX and 7000 won't be a problem and after getting some seat time in it It may run faster than that.

That’s awesome! That is a very beautiful piece of Outboard history! I’m actually going to look at one locally this weekend if it falls through might get a hold of you for some more info. Just curious though as I’m more familiar with fishing motors than the high-performance stuff would that engine have plastic rod bearing cages still? Is the Oilers still hooked up? I know as little use that engine has had those components certainly couldn’t be wore out , but I didn’t know how they held up with time just sitting

The high performance engines did not use the plastic cages or oil injection. It is a great piece of outboard history and I would rather it go somewhere that it is appreciated as that. An old untouched hi po motor are about like finding a DZ 302 that hasn't been apart yet, maybe not to that level but in the same game.

    Nobody?
DZ302 is the engine code for a 1969 Z-28 Camaro. 302 cubic inch for Trans-Am racing. DZ was stamped in the block followed by the serial number.

    Yes sir.
That small block, in the right hands that knew how to use the power band, put a hurt on a lot of other muscle cars.

4 inch bore with a 3 inch stroke made it a screamer. 7000+ RPM. I believe it is the shortest stroke ever in a small block Chevy. Forged crank/pistons, solid lifters. Made a hell of a lot more power then the claimed 290 Horsepower.
