Amazing how much is discovered when you peel into one. When you’re done it will be so much better than new. As for the transom/core question I would run the transom down all the way and glass it in first. I did a system of increasing my edges by 2” and in come cases 4” meaning if I put three lays of 1708 over the transom each piece ran out 2 or 4 inches wider than the previous. I would do this down to the hull too so the transom glass runs under the core. I put a ton of glass on my transom but I think I have three layers down the transom under the core. My thinking was the more glass the more strength and especially around the rear of the core more to protect the core in its most sensitive place. The back two feet of the core are doing all the work when running wfo

90% Scuffed Up
I am guessing I have about 90% of the hull scuffed up now. I still need to do the tops of the sides and clean up the transom, and I will finally be able to start putting glass back in. It's crazy all the air pockets and undersaturated glass I found. They have got me thinking as to what was done to this thing in its life, or what was done at the factory. I am now 2nd guessing the cradle and if this thing will come out even remotely straight but I want to somehow finish this thing b/c now I have something else that needs similar attention in the driveway.
21 Starflite that I grew up boating in. Its got a Yam 250. Transom gone, floors gone. stringers completely delaminated. Plan was to do this one after mine and not take the cap off but the trailer cracked the hull by the bow eye so caps going to have to come off.
Anyways that a future problem. I am going to start ordering fiberglass stuff. Prolly going to get a full roll of 1708 (will have leftovers for the 21) and maybe 30yds of csm just to be safe. Needs rollers, resin and all that going to be a big bill $$$. I am very much looking forward to the "fun" part of putting glass back in.- 1979 Checkmate Predictor 2.5 200 - Resto underway

Just a friendly reminder these two items made production go up 5x and my quality go up 10x. I could have done my entire build with these two tools and a handful of 1” chip brushes. A 4” whizz roller with the blue stripe rollers. A 3” x 1/2” finned roller for finishing. Also latex gloves are a lot more resilient to resin than nitrile. Lookin good on the prep there
