That's the Canadian team out of Barrie, CHRYSLER marine. Fossey's the name. Mentioned previous in the thread. Yellowbird was the boat's name. Early version then they cut the freeboard down. Twin 105, CHRYSLER boat.
The link to the history isn't working anymore, I thought we posted all the letters etc , I'll try to find it and post again.

The print is pretty light, but you can still read, "It was Umbargar and Chrysler all the way"!.. along with his string of victories.

Dan, I'm not sure.. but Peterse90 may be able to figure it out - I'll check with him. FMP caught the boat's name, "Yellowbird"... The driver was the late Jerry Rice from Ontario, Canada (a good friend to all in CBF). By the look/style of the headline, Powerboat Magazine might have had something to do with its creation, but that's just a guess. Other people to ask would be Bill Edwards or Beale Tilton. (E&T Boats).

I adjusted the tone/ light on that scan - it's a bit easier to read now.

Joe Fossey & Jerry Rice, now I'll ask a friend who has all the info. Why that boat was in that ad? Memory serves I think Dan's dad is mentioned somewhere. I have Joe's number number , might have shared it with you Dan , or vise versa can't remember.

    Some side reading
    https://www.donnadouglas.com/columns...g-history.html

It was a big operation, two plants of motors and boat production.
A big dealer network, good times. Still have our original 73 , same hull as in the ad.
At any given time driving down the 400 through Barrie you'd see tractor trailers full of boats heading out. The facilities seen from the highway.
Should have gone on for years longer , only division of CHRYSLER at the time that was making money.
The new lines of boats were coming, the big looper V6 and transition to loopers was beginning from the small 6-8 HP to the 200+ HP V6s.

As Watermark noted Jerry Rice was a big part of Canadian Sportscraft racing from the 60's well into the late 70's.
Larry Lauzon later became the Canadian Sales Manager for Thundercraft.
I remember Edwards Marine at the end of Duckworth Street on Little Lake. They were there until at least 1980 and had plenty of Chrysler parts in inventory, as did a dealer in Fort Erie (can't remember the name - maybe Nichols Marine).

I just found the info back from the link, had the webmaster who set it up send it. He also enjoys a couple CHRYSLERS and was glad to share. I'll post it asap.
Yeah on Little Lake, been awhile. Yes to the L Erie marina. I picked up an F5 Force from that area as a parts motor. It still has the marina sticker so I believe they held through the transition.
Bennett Marine on Kingston Rd was another, another in S Etobicoke Mississauga, Hamilton, Parry Sound, Waubaushene, etc etc. The showroom full of CHRYSLER boats was always fun to check out, the big outboards, the stern drives and the Jets!

Motorkraft AB was the Swedish distributor for Chrysler outboards..(NO connection with Ford) in the early seventies.

I think it was 1972/73 MotorKraft AB did order a purpose built UIM SD class Schulze cat from Dieter designed by Gert Lowisin.
Rigged with a Chrysler 45 Sport.
My friend Hans Argell was hired as the driver of D20..but he could not compete with the faster Archimedes-Penta in the UIM SD class.
If I remember right Chrysler Outboards left the Swedish outboard market early 1974.

The record attempt at the Dalälven, Sweden October 1973.
It is Gert Lowisin himself who has built this hydro boat with a Chrysler 45 Super Sport for the UIM SD class. Yes, Gert did get a few world records on this very cold weekend..
I was also there for a few UIM SE class world records.

A very rare 135 hp Slacker showed up for sale. Can't be too many of these around.

Post #387 applies: "uses a mercury crank spline and mercury rods?" Only after `95. Mercury crank spline too large for Powerflow driveshaft - an adapter is required, so the Chrysler water pump can be serviced. Adapter=$$$.
