GETBOATS did a lot of work, bottom, transom and testing with this Sleek/Yamaha combo and ended up with a great setup that consistently ran in the low 100's. Wish he'd bring it out of retirement.

Actually thought about another run, the boat hangs at home on a wall unmolested. Not I in the cockpit however, told myself after the 2018 win and turning 60 the same year it was time. Sat Sunday at Pirates with a friend and very accomplished driver after last years enduro and put together a plan, my year has been full of twists and turns and flew bye. I'm not the guy to throw it together and hope. The plan was to have it ready May 2023 and have at least 20 hours of race speed testing through out the summer. Sadly going to miss this years race, my son has his 6100 back together and starts testing getting ready for King of the Hammers 2024. A safe race to everyone involved.

    I miss Offshore Ginger, Thank's

So anything done to the Yamaha ?

I grew up on Yamaha snowmobiles and motorcycles, just might buy an outboard.

So you filled that pad area in ? the last step

What about those aluminum corner pieces on side sponsons?

Below in my plug for a mold I built, this was for drag racing,

I would go back to original for circle racing, too bad their is no more.

So anything done to the Yamaha ? 10 hours of break in and computer flash, thats it, ran strong to 6700 ran a 30" in the first stint then switched to a 32 after the first pit usually at 11 laps.

So you filled that pad area in ? the last step yes step was gone before the first enduro in 2013

What about those aluminum corner pieces on side sponsons? Those angles were used to set the height of the center pod and to ensure pod was parallel and square to the outside sponsons. A heavy steel beam was used to sand the pod. I believe this was the secret to the boats predictability and stability. It could be run on the last few inches of that center pod.

Sounds like you used a standard layup boat not a race version? what was the weight of hull ?

What is the class weight you had to run at, very COOL.

I imagine you got good mileage then ?

A 2.5 horn motors SUCK at fuel mileage, I like your choice

    Perfect Balance

These started from my 1985 SST MVP 681 Kim Howards fault

Entered in Div. 6, boat weighed 1725 with remaining fuel after race ended, 300 lbs heavier than class rules, burned between 100-105 gallons for the entire race and pump gas to boot!!

John, it's got to be hard not to scratch that itch. You've done all the hard work. Next year, bring that beast out of retirement and find someone to drive the middle leg so you won't have to Ironman it again.

So what was the top speed with the Yamaha, I see you HAVE to run with the center of the drive shaft 1/2 below the bottom, I understand It helps in the corners, but It must keep the speeds down in the straits.
Spinning a 32, that's impressive! with the driveshaft that low, in all my years I've never run one of these boats with the drive shaft that low, how would you say the FEEL is compared to the usual inch or more above?
It's one of those bucket list things, I would love to do...

[QUOTE=CUDA;3405362]So what was the top speed with the Yamaha, 102-103 all day

, I see you HAVE to run with the center of the drive shaft 1/2 below the bottom, I understand It helps in the corners, but It must keep the speeds down in the straits. Division rules stated, stock gearcase, that alone limits top speed, but this boat shines in corners, it could be buried in a 180 rite on the buoy and recover quickly. This fact alone likely saved 3-4 seconds at each end of the course.

Spinning a 32, that's impressive! We would start the race with a 30, changing to the 32 after 11 laps
the boat was fastest with a 3 blade cleaver, but it took way to long to gather the boat up and turn loosing the seconds you gained in the straights. ended up year after year running Yamaha's thru hub three blade TXP

with the driveshaft that low, in all my years I've never run one of these boats with the drive shaft that low, how would you say the FEEL is compared to the usual inch or more above? Very stable and predictable

It's one of those bucket list things, I would love to do... So why don't you!!!!!!!!!!!
