IDK exactly what they were advertising, but the pic is the 1962 pre-630 race motor with the standard rubber mounted steering yoke and the non overflow floatless carbs

650 Sam.........Note the high speed needle....... note 1964 the bottom pan is a cut down......Top carb boss can be seen....studs not staggered......I can't see the casting on the block aka 1965 that would locate the lower floating cover........See the white MK75h in the background? My wife likes the games that you have to look at 2 pictures and spot the differceses....

Rumor is that there was an assembler at Mercury who could set these up and drop the assembly right into the block. I have wrestled them enough to find that incredible, if true.

The crank does drop straight in when you set that contraption up right, it is a pain in the ass, I remember those days.
