If you had a "Big Johnson"

Would you start your need for speed with the cavitation plate below the bottom of the boat, even with the bottom, or 1" above the bottom? (lets call it a delta pad bottom)

Thanks guy's, its been quite a while for me. NP

Depends on the boat and the prop you wanna use..... but al in all.... the cav plate will always be above the bottom of the boat.....

1'' is a safe bet with a variety of props. You don't want your johnson to be over exposed to air cause it will get hot....Nobody wants a overheated johnson. Big or little size....

If you start surfacing, you might want to pin the carrier bearing.

The boat make and size makes a huge difference. On my 20’ Stoker I ran the prop shaft 1”above the pad now on my 26’ Advantage party cat with a V8 E-Rude I tried to go up until the top pick up hole in the lower was level with the pad and it was 1” to high and would not carry the bow.
