That's a Flying Flipper with Johnson power, built in Finland designed by Swede Sigurd Isacsson.
I special order one 1985 and installed the two first production Evinrude V8 engines same year.
    Pictures coming soon..!!

Here is the Flying Flipper I special order from the Flipper Boat factory in Finland early 1985 for the first production Evinrude V8 XP engines. OMC Waukegan shipped the very first by air to me in Sweden in time for a big event.
"The Stockholm F1-V8 GP 1985" and was used as a pace boat.
This boat got a lot of attention that summer. Nice and very powerful.

My friend Pelle Lindbergh (famous hockey goalie for Philadelphia Flyers #31) and me decided to race the offshore race Roslagsloppet same year with my Flying Flipper rigged with 2 X Evinrude V8 XP.
Sent an entry form to the race in Öregrund for the stock production class.
The race organizations answer was NO..our entry was not accepted.
I asked why because the year before a Flying Flipper with two Mariner V6 raced the same stock class..
The true answer was Mercury Outboards was the main sponsor of the race and forced us out..See attached decal for the race.
Too bad.. same old BS from Mercury.

I don't understand Italian, but I think this is something great for Renato Molinari.

Renato Molinari awarded with the Collare d’Oro.

One of the legends of Italian Powerboat Racing, Renato Molinari, has been awarded with the Collare d’Oro, the highest honour that the Italian National Olympic Committee can bestow to an athlete.
Molinari won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1981,’83 and ’84, he also gained a further 18 World titles in other racing disciplines as well as 9 victories in circuit endurance races, including the 24 Heures motonautiques de Rouen.
The 72 year old from Nesso, will receive his award from CONI (Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano) President Giovanni Malagň, at a ceremony that will take place on Wednesday, December 19 in Rome at the Salone d’Oro del Foro Italico.

There were a number of African-American tunnel boat racers in Maryland before that picture was taken, they just didn't make the big time like Art Jr did. Important to note that Art Jr was a second generation racer. His father before him was a successful boat racer as well, going way back.

And one from New Jersey who drove a Sid-Son Johnson. The picture above for the video is Art Sr.

Before reading your reply, I was going to post that Art was the only black man I’d seen race.
I was a fan but only knew what was printed in the magazines if the day.

    Thx for the history lesson.
    Very cool.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

This is great news and pretty funny. Evinrude E-TEC 250 H.O. did set a new speed record in P1 Super Stock class today. ( 68.15 MPH).
    I guess its vintage racing..

Foster and Morris take P1 SuperStock 250 World Record at Coniston

Art Kennedy again. Not sure when and where but it looks like a Johnson V6 RS.
