That's extremely sad. The CT River Run was the very first event I ever attended. Probability the very best event in the northeast. I always miss the experiences... the river is beautiful and I loved the hangout at the beach with pizza delivery!
very sad.

if i were to find another venue for pizza delivery in a good location on the river would you still be interested in helping out getting everything together? ive been on the river for 25 years and know a number of different areas and possibly have a contact and connection to get to those locations. let me know. i dont want to see this run die.

i Have a few in mind. option 1 is in chester i know a friend with a beach just south of the ferry i will have to call and ask if we can use the area. theres a great area for anchoring boats as well right out front and room for fly bys and such playing.
option 2 is portland fairgrounds have the pizzas delivered there. i would have to have a friend ask some of the locals for access. not much of a beach, more of a mud bar there but still the same area that we always go.
option 3 is Dart island just shy of middletown just north of the pratt dock. could have pizza delivered to the marina across the way and we can anchor and beach boats on the island.
just a few thoughts. im out of chester so it would probably be easier for me to figure things out on option one. in that case i would propose a run down to saybrook and meet some people at the mouth of the river and run up river with a crowd.

We seem to be forgetting the large area around Haddam Island, where many of us launch, but should work out!!! If we can't have pizza we can bring our own eats and donate CASH to a worthy cause!!!!!!!! Please consider this area Rich as there are many places to tie on to each other along with a lot of beach area on Haddam Island?????

Dart island!! On of the best spots. We could have the pizzas delivered at the marina right across from it. Great beach. Clean sand.

And we hang out there quite a bit anyway. Plenty of room to make passes, and no long no wake to deal with
