1980s (?) Star Viper 10 ft. My dad bought this when I was around 10 years old. It had a 1971 20 hp on it. I wasn't old enough to get a boaters license (12 years old in IL) so I could only drive it early and late in the season to avoid the cops. In middle school I used money from cutting lawns to get a 1969 35 hp short shaft. Hull is around 250 pounds so its pretty heavy but its built like a tank. A very solid boat. It has a fin built into the bottom of the hull. I took her for a run yesterday and she still runs well.

Great performance in small packages, guys!
I've got a 50 mph GW Invader with 50 Merc, Chopper, transom jack... But I am now starting to rig a SMALL boat: an 8' long Ski-Bird from 1966. It had never been rigged for the water before; no steering... So I will get in trouble without your advice.
I'm thinking of 15 to 25 Hp motors, but have had little luck finding high pitch props. I've tried looking at the Mini GT racers for props because the bare hull only weighs 75 pounds. So what should I buy in a motor and prop combination for this little rig? I'll be on rivers and lakes in Wisconsin mostly.
    Thanks, guys.

Referring to the photo on page 52 (the little blue single seat boat shown in the middle of the page)

This is a Ski-Bird from the mid 1960's, made by GW Grey before they came out with the 10 ft long Invader. I hear that these are dangerous above 40 mph. Tell me what you have done with this 8 ft long little boat! What can get this thing up over 50 mph?

if the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter - and unsafe.
