Have experience with the same boat & over-powering them. With as little as 40 horsepower(yes, only 40), and then stuffing the bow into closely spaced smallish waves, the boats bottom will buckle up in the center & stay there, permanently. If you will notice, none of this size era aluminum boats have longitudinal ribs/stiffeners. Only transverse stiffeners. Ruined the boat.

25hp would be about right for that hull...

Pushing it to the side to switch back to the Checkmate which should have been wet by now. This will give me time to collect parts and see what kind of power surfaces.
I am leaning towards my orig plan and will leave that subject alone as well.

I have the exact same boat as that, it had the rear splash well set up removed when I got it and I removed the front deck for more fishing space. Its converted over to a tiller motor set up. Thing really ripps with a 25xd merc on it. It is the first aluminum boat that i ever owned that didnt leak.
