    12' Jet boat

Hi,new to the site and trying to get some advice on a jet boat.I just built a 12' Tunnel hull and would like to put a jet motor in it.I acquired a motor out of a Yamaha Jet boat,148hp is what I was told.Have any of you ever done somthing like this?Do you think it is to much motor for a 12' boat?DO you think its going to work in a tunnel hull? Thanks for your help in advance.

hey wats up jay..its jason from da pearl.........dude thats a huge set up that thing would be a rocket if u can get a high pitch impeller .....i think it should work out in that hull cause the center pontoon is as low as the sides which hopefully will be in contact with the water 4 the intakegrate 2 pick up......im just wonderin how much bowrise the hull is gunna have once ur hooked up ..that would be a factor cause the pump would lose water....well goodluck......it will be a beast if it works out.....oh yeah so wanna pop 1 out that mold and throw that 40 i got on it

I am interested in hearing more about your project. I also built a 12 foot cat, mostly to test and am now on the third prove design model. The third and I hope final design is a modified cat and I have stretched it to 14 feet. I have the same plan as yours with a jet. Jet skis are normally the length of your boat or shorter so your shouldn´t have too much power.
Here is a utube site of a test behind my house in the first 12 foot model. The boat did not have enough ski area.

I will try and post some pics pretty soon.I was concerned with power b/c the boat weighs less than 200lbs and the motor came out of a Seadoo boat not a jet ski.Its 148hp!
