Jeff - Great talking to you today! Definately Looks like a turbine with exhaust out the back, This is the 1st I have seen it & I don't have a clue about it except that Jim Wagner is driving it in both pictures. I don't know who the other guy is. While this is not the same boat, as I remember, Bill did have a turbine powered boat for a while when he and Doug Janisch were in business together in Miami. Either my memory is faulty or Iris and I road with Bill and Vida in his turbine boat to Mike Gordon's Restaurant for dinner. Perhaps Doug Janisch can tell me more about that one. The boat you pictured appears to be a Formula 233. Best Regards and Congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family - Steve Sirois

Here is an article with pic sent to me today by Alice Janisch. This would be the red Magnum that Iris and I rode in to Mike Gordons, but I remember it as a single turbine instead of twin engine. - Steve

I have a cousin named Al Holub whose parents owned a place at Sumava Resorts on the Kankakee River. Al, who spent his life after WWII in the marine business and racing "F" hydros first used to run his hydro on the Kankakee when he was a kid. Sumava is down river from Shelby. I cut my teeth on that river also. Anyone out there know Al Holub? He is retired now and lives in Tampa.

Welcome back Bobby - Glad to hear you missed the storm. I,ve been through a couple of those rascals, but nothing like that one. Although, I did fly into Homestead AFB the day after Hugo. There wasn't a single leaf remaining on any tree. I am guessing somebody on this thread probably rode that one out. Best Regards - Steve Sirois

Bill - I don't know if you read post #9 on this thread, but my brother's (Bill Sirois) 1st job in boating was at Sarasota Marine. That was a Mercury Dealership owned by "Al Holub". I also worked there for a short while, mainly sweeping floors and cleaning up. I doubt that we are talking about the same Al Holub, but it is certainly not inconceivable. If it is the same one, he would have to be at least in his 80's. Also, it would be incredibly ironic that he ran around on the same Indiana waters that my brother spent time on. 2 years ago I took my wife to Indiana to see where I came from. I remember Schneider and the Sumava Resorts. It's a Small World - Steve Sirois
