I took my 22 ft walk around with a 2004 Suzuki 225 4-stroke To a lake to do a test run as I hadn't had the boat out for a while. Idle and up to about 1500 RPM the engine seemed perfectly normal. But when I gave it the gas it couldn't even get the boat up on plane. And I could feel some of the power Instantaneously fluctuating up and down. The change in power was subtle but readily felt and recognizable.

It felt pretty much exactly like my bass boat with a 1991 Mercury 150 when the switch box was gradually failing. Power would come and go instantaneously just like now on my Suzuki 225.

Does the Suzuki outboard have an easy to replace ignition component like the switch box on a Mercury 2-stroke outboard?

Or is there something else that could be causing this problem?

Thank you.
