Bill - Sam is correct. That is a hilarious statement. Hopefully, Jackie will jump in here with his perspective as well. You and he have both been entirely too quiet lately. - Steve

Ha-ha-ha! Hopefully a couple of the engines had the proper rotation lower units to make all those left hand turns. It would be a handful on Havasu's right and left hand turns, on that boomerang course. If that boat won the Havasu Outboard World Championships, who would advertise the win? Chrysler, Mercury or OMC, or all three!

Mark- Didn't Chrysler have the, " Most Powerful Factory Outboard Engine Ever Made!", in production in 1972 with their 150hp "Stacker," available to, "The Public" or" Everyday, Average Boater!" I believe Mercury came out with the, "Red Decal Twister" & OMC had the "Super Strangler" & the, "Stinger!"

No, Chrysler had the "Most powerful BIA certified outboard ever" ... you have to read and repeat every word. That's the way propaganda works, they hope you will remember some things and forget others.

Oh man I thought sure I would get shot at a lot more about the powerful Chrysler comment!
Remember the old Chrysler add that showed a stacker on the back of a ski boat, perfectly normal to have it as a pleasure boat motor. My, how times have changed.
Maybe Ron Hill would take credit for the boat winning if it had his props!1970 15' Allison/135 Chrysler stacker

Mark- In 1969, Chrysler came out with the 135hp "stacker", to go against the Mercury 1250 Super BP & or even, 1000 Super BP. OMC, counter-punched with the Stranglers & Stingers! Game over for Chrysler, sorry Buddy.

Chrysler came out with a racing version of the 105 without stacks in 1967½ The 96ci Chryslers were too big to compete against the 1000's in the 90ci/1500cc I classes.
Chryslers managed 25 firsts in 1970 in OPC and much greater success in drag racing ... their game was not over, but they were not superstars.

Powerful Chryslers.....
I liked it.....someone has to stick up for those things! Lanham told me that he was having a drink with those guys after the race and they told him that they had blown the lower unit on the Chrysler just before the start. They didn't have a spare, so they pulled the failed unit off and ran the race with the remaining two engines..... said they picked up about eight miles per hour.
