I never knew that FJ was run as a twin class (FJJ) Neat! Were the hulls bigger? Driver and throttle man? Did this class die out when the twin tunnels were banned?
Is the boat in the background an Allison?

By the race number I would guess that this is in 1968 or maybe 69.In 1970 the class designation was dropped from the boat numbers. In 1968 at Nationals one boat showed up with the number" FJJ-2US" in the required 12" numbers. Took up the whole side of the boat.

Where is Roy Rodgers museum powerboat now?

It's not in the 100 mph club, but "Mercury man" Roy's boat is where now?
A decade after Christie's auction house sold all of Roy & Dale's museum collection.

This is me standing next to Roy Roger's twin Merc rig, at Roy's museum in California.

In this 1956 TV episode, we view men wearing 6-gun shooters on their hips, and driving boats.

Twin Merc rigs we see at the beginning of the TV show, and at time lines 13:50 & 21:30.

...pretty need episode kid. you know roy had influence in putting together the storyline for that show & including the boats & mercury outboards. the boat drivers looked to be experienced too. they obviously filmed everything from shore, to save money & needed to be a touch closer in many of the shots. thanks for sharing...

I'm not positive and Powerboat didn't say, but if I had to bet a buck I'd bet BP's.

Those are great pictures! Bill did everything at 90 mph, working or playing. Making it to 86 has to be a minor miracle . Back in the mid sixties, seems like the great FJ races were Checkmate vs. Allison or Checkmate vs. Hustler.

Got to love that Sonny Bono look he presented in that Checkmate advertisement.....

1st Outboard powered boat to achieve 100 mph in a race Jan Schoonover powered by Merc

Is this 1967 Switzer Wing rig driven by Jan Schoonover, the first Outboard powered boat to achieve 100 mph in a race?

This newspaper article claims, it was the first boat to record in a race, to achieve 100 mph.

In the race Odell Lewis is second, and Johnny Bakos is third overall.

Here is the Switzer Wing hull, at another race.
