    best hydrofoil

i have seen numerous "hydrofoils" for sale to go onto the cavitation plate. i know they help hole shot. do they increase top speed, or do they make it slower? what do you all think is the best hydrofoil/wale tail company? thanks, anxious to see the responses.

    Foils

Well I never seen one help TOP speed but if set up properly it shouldn't slow you down, it should be outa the water . Lots of different styles to choose from, Allison, Eagle One, Triad, etc, etc

I have seen some realy good ones made out of STOP signs, LOL

I put a Bobs on my vegas, and it think it helps with the hole shot, and it should help with porposing when there is a load on board.

    Foil

It has not lost any top speed, boat run hi 9's to low 10's in the 1/4, helps hole shot popping the boat up quicker. Doesn't do anything for steering torque, its outa the water at speed

Mike Ray makes the sweetest afterplane I ever saw. Amazing quality, and they have a very good reputation for results. I'm not sure if he's making them anymore, though.

the princple is simple, the foil is like a elevon on a plane. you trim the front of the foil up and the back down as the motor trims under[down]. the forward motion of the boat now will lift the the rear of the boat up.

the larger the foil the greater the effect. within reason.

foil on the boat we run are out of the water and dont effect speed.

i really like the two foil listed.

i posted a picture from the hydrostream web page. there were several race boat there thet had foils.

    ...........mike Ray

    FOIL....installed as per directions.....ran 2:1 gearcase with a 20" yammi drag
and the foil did not hold up!
    It is bent!

But also NO FOIL has held up to what I have thrown at them!

The ray foil did work second best to what I have found to be the best...The Johnson brothers foil....
Don't ask cause as far as I know ya can't get one new!

And theres breaks too......but out performs everyone I have tested!!

I have tested every one made I believe!

My .02....and I have a stack in the garage of everyones.....while my broke johnsons is being fixed I run the mike ray!

So for what is currently available on the market.....the Mike Ray Foil is the way to go!
