    Scafo Angelo Molinari

The hull looks like a Molinari craft. Notice the Scafo Angelo Molinari lettering between the driver and the number 190. And I will assume this boat first raced in Europe, being it has the Italian colors, on the boat cowling.

Here is Roy Ridgell and Dave Beier in a Molinari craft. And you can see clearly the Scafo Angelo Molinari logo.

    Colors ......

In the early 1970's at the Como, Italy shop, I was condition to see white boats with race stripes, or with sponsors colors (mainly cigarette companies). At that time Renato Molinari was not flying any sponsor colors, therefore in that period of time his European boats were predominately white with race stripes.

Then came this Black Picklefork, with race colors. The first one I saw was built for the Paris 6 Hour race. And when I saw the boat, it conveyed itself to me as ... I am a bad-ass.

In this photo is what I see missing is the American flag colors (Bob Hering co-driver). It might be on the port-side.
I think the black #457 made it's debut at the Parker Enduro in 1975. It probably carries the Italian colors because Renato knew he would be to be driving it when he had it painted. It probably doesn't have the American flag decal because it did not run in Europe before being shipped to the US.
It made a very impressive debut at Parker driven by Hering & Molinari. It became the first boat in the 13 year history of the Enduro to lead the first lap and win the race. In doing so, they covered 702 miles in 7 hours ..... just over 100 mph average!

There were a lot of white Molinari's, but I always thought a version of "orange" was used the most?

Couldn't agree more, believe the same guy that picked the 'purple' sport coats picked the yellow team jackets.

Initially I thought the 190 at Phoenix was probably the same boat as the 457 at Parker. However, after a closer look, it appears the paint schemes are not exactly the same.

Isn't there a picture floating around that shows the Merc Race Team of the day dressed in their red & white uniforms with two black steel body Team trucks pulling two black Molinari T3 pickleforks.?

Correct. Earliest ones used BP mids and had no lower pan. Some used single straight pipe exhaust. I'm thinking early prototype, but not necessity very early

I think Bill completed the most laps of anyone on Sunday in this boat.
Due to the flips and rolls on Saturday, several drivers were assigned to drive different boats on Sunday. Back in 2006, when I could remember things much better than I can now, I wrote that the changes included Renato going to Peacock's #22 and Seebold went to Berghauer's #138 Molinari. Seebold completed 1 more lap than anyone else during the Sunday 4 hour run.

    Finished 4th overall .....

So, if it used a BP mid and no lower pan, was it pinned at the top like a "lamp shade"? (LOL)
