I started water skiing when I was 14. About the time I graduated High School the Gold Coast Marathon had a companion ski race. A couple of my friends ran in it. Does anyone even water ski anymore?

Hi Butch...I met Hugh James when I was running SK and K flat bottoms in the 1980's. Hugh was a stand up guy and could find you any part that you could imagine and at a very fair price. He was well know and successful in running GN inboards. His were always fuel injected, Crower Injection, I think. I made the trip to his house in Green Cove Springs many times. When Hugh was not racing, he was an executive with Nissan. Like you, I have not contacted him in years, but knowing Hugh, he is probably bare footing as we speak...

Hi Bob,... just tried to email him and it came back. When I worked at Holman Moody Hugh was always around. At the time he worked for the Treasury Dept. Our shop foreman Bill Sundman, bought a SK boat from Ed Bradford. Then he got HM to send us a 396 ci David Pearson qualifying engine, with the bundle of snakes exhaust that was on Holman's Honker Group 7 car. Back then there was a NASCAR car weight HP formula, thats why we had 396 ci engines, SK limit was 400ci. Bill got Jack Wilcox to drive the boat. Jack was one of the best SK drivers in the country. Hugh kept after Bill to sell him the boat. One day he told him ok, so we took it to the Marine Stadium to let Hugh test it. He made a few laps and pulled in. He was very quiet, very edgy, When he finally said something, he said "from now on when I see Jack I'm going to call him Mr. Wilcox, because he is the only SOB that can drive this boat. It's a rocket. I don't think Jack ever lost a race in it. Last time I saw Hugh was at an early OFF Reunion at Mt Dora. I had talked him and Dave Craig to come. Hugh told me he had something like 3 Bradford Hulls he was working on rebuilding. He was a straight arrow for sure.

I was at the Stadium when Jack Wilcox lost the rudder on the "Fish Peddler" and went under the front row of the grandstand. He came out unscathed and I believe never raced again.

Stockholm GP 1968
Yes, there was a 6 hour race in Stockholm 1968. 3 Hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday.
Extremely rough race and Renato was complaining to the media after the race..harder then the Paris 6 hour race..!!..I am reading that in the news paper article.
The overall winner was a young Renato.
Yes..I was there watching 15 years old.
Boat 51 below is Carlo Rosini, Italy OI Molinari /Merc
The overall winner..#34 Renato

I guess things where different back in 1968. This was a full page ad in the Advance Program for the Stockholm GP that year.
Its mixed Swedish/English but I think you can figure it out. I was to young to pay attention to that..!!..
Bacchi Wapen was owned by Bo Parnevik back then..his son is the famous golf player Jesper Parnevik.

Didn't Sharon Chambers later become Sharon Sikes? Also, looks to me like the G is trying to plane, not getting pitched??
