Merc had Molinari in exclusive contract in 1970, so I don't see how OMC would have received any new twin hulls from Italy.

Also, the list includes several 16' Scotti's from 1973. Just seems to me that that's a lot of sprint boats to order at a time when horsepower was increasing rapidly. I believe John Schubert said he thinks the Scotti he ran in Paris in 71 might have been a 16', said he thought it was shorter than the others.

The 1970 OMC tunnel may have been this boat ..... Attachment 457294 but I thought it was shorter than 18'?

    Some other OMC boats .....

Obviously not a big deal one way or the other. The list just made me think about the great days of boat racing.
The initial endurance testing of the rotary was done on a wooden twin Molinari. Rich McKinley blew it over in testing in FL. After drying out the engine, endurance testing continued. This was Feb 1973. The engine completed 10 hrs.

I believe Jack Leek had a lay down boat made. Jimbo tested it, but I don't remember it running any races.

Well..The Evinrude 135 HP production V4 is the 1973 model year. I think the boat with the Super Strangler is a Scotti-Craft but not sure.

If you look close, and the other posted pictures, there is no doubt that it is a Glastron Molinari. I don't believe it was ever run in competition with this paint scheme, but it's certainly a eye catching boat. Very nice find, so where DID you find it?

Yes he did have a laydown boat built by McDonald, yes it was tested, yes it was run...I believe it ran in Canada. Shortly afterwards OMC Canada contracted Lorne Pinel to build a copy of the original for use with a CCC crossflow with Spencer Dunn driving. It crashed badly at Welland Ont.

I think the #34 boat is actually a McDonald 4 point. It does have Schultz cowlings but I don't recall Schultz making a 4 point twin OPC tunnel

I'm glad you are working on it and not me; too big of a job for me to do right. Can't wait to see it finished.

There was an Evinrude dealer down here in South Miami who ran a boat for a while looked like one of those McDonald tunnels.

The no.30 must have been a left over Molinari painted up for that photo. I thought that by the '72 Havasu race Team OMC had switched to Scotti and were also using McDonald and Cougar.
