Might be the '75 OPC Nationals...
It's been too long, and I don't recall the boats involved. I was there, and I once had a front page picture from the Miami Herald, but it went by the wayside. Anyway, there was a three boat blowover right at the start of one of the big tunnel classes (Mod U?) at the '75 OPC Nationals at the Miami Marine Stadium. One boat lifted, they were running so close that he pulled the other two with him.
Per Rock:

Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

Correct............. it was Miami Marine Stadium in 1975 at the APBA/OPC Nationals. I was sittin' in the grandstand and it happened right in front of me. Reggie, and I can't remember who else. I've still go the next morning's newspaper article somewhere showing that picture. There were several others snapped in the sequence also and I think they were posted here too.
It's been posted and described here several times in the past. Some kinda' search would probably turn up all the details.
Billy Seebold and Haustein (spelling?) did a similar "one goes and sucks the other over too" side by side at Eufala at the OPC nationals there several years later but I've never seen published pictures. I was standin' on the beach right in front of that one too.Membership upgrade options: http://www.screamandfly.com/payments.php

Miami blowover
Big Al, I remember it well. Raceman, you must have been sitting near me as I was near where the photo was taken from. It was Reggie Fountain, Harry Kerslake, and Danny Piggott. Miraculously no one was hurt. This shot is actually from a series caught with a motor drive 35mm. Reggie has the sequence in his office. It made all the papers the next morning, like the Allison-Yarborough fight at Daytona. A friend also caught it on 8mm home movie film. Reggie had a TV station copy it for him.

Was this the boat accedent that made reggie quit outboard racing?
I did a serch engine on boat racing and this came up. So this had to be a big part of news and history for the boating world.
Kinda like the NASCAR wreck you just talked about.
Bad accidents and scandal bring news and press.

99fxst99- do you know where a copy of that film is? Can you get a hold of it? I had what I thought was the only copy, lent it to a guy in West Virginia to put on video and he said he lost it! Don't care who has it or if there are more than one copy, just want a copy.

Al here is one of several threads on SnF on the famous Miami Triple flip. There are 2 sequences shot by different photographers.
I think Reggie raced after this incident, I don't think anyone was seriously hurt.
