water tell tale on mariner 4hp 4 stroke
ive just purchased a 1999 mariner 4hp 4 stroke outboard.
on running the engine there is no water tell tale,i can't even see where the tell tale would be as there is not little hole for the water to come from.

in my world ,look at back and bottom of power head ,one 3/16 hole for water to show, but norm block with tiny bits of crap ,poke small driver in hole and wiggle gently then run engine slowly if no luck ,take bung out 12 mm head bolt size ,which will give you acess to water gallery for flushing purposes, run engine slow/med revs try to flush motor,if no water run out check pick up in bottom of leg for blockage, also if no history on lump check water pump inside leg (i would change anyway as a matter of course).plus check all and see if it has a stat as stat can give same symtoms some times ,try on of these if any help ,but could be used in dirty water or have muscle ingress inside engine which requires engine strip to be 100% accurate so i have found these to be the way to go in my small experince ps be carful there is more than one size for impellar for this model
