That's got to be nuts. I've seen a 23 Daytona with triples but never a 21. Post pictures if it exists.

    Thumbs up 21 Daytona

I own a 95 21 with twin 2.5 efi's. Could not be happier with the
set up. It was rigged by DCB. It does float alittle transom heavy,
go figure. I can't see how it would be possible to put triples on one but who knows? The boat runs 109 at 7800RPM and is very stable. Tell me more info on the one you have I may have a friend that want's it!

    Thanks Boatmaster

    Jeff,

The twin setup is much better. The triple is to ass heavy on launch and the additional torque makes it dip the right sponson really hard. It will hit harder in the midrange but is really only a little faster on top. Not worth the time and money.

The boat was traded to DCB on a new 22 with 300 drags. Dave re-rigged it as a twin and sold it.

I am headed to the Miami Boat Show. Be glad to talk next week.

    Lake trash

Isn't that the 22' Daytona? The 21' Daytona I remember, looks more like a three point hydro and with twins the motors had to be right next two each other.

When Eliminator was making boats up here in Wisconsin the owner built a 21' with twin BP 2.4EFI's, this was in the late eighties. I don't remember how fast it was, but it had some major midrange power.

    Q-Shot,

You are right. The pictured one is a 22. The original 21 had a low transom hight but looked the same.

Trickey brackets were required to mount twins out wide behind the sponsons on the low profile. Everybody has gone to a much deeper transom which makes it easy to mount them wherever you want. Most all the twins rigged in California are mounted wide. DCB, Eliminator, Couger etc. They say putting them behind the tunnel "hides" the gearcase and therfore reduces drag. I cannot see how you hide something that is not in the water anyway.

All the twins rigged around here set the motors in the tunnels. We could not afford the brackets - glad that is not a factor anymore. I ran my 21 both ways. The hole shot is stronger mounted in the tunnels. You can run them higher and it eliminates the low speed loping tunnels are bad about. No difference in top speed.

Wildman will testify as to how the narrow mount works.

My 1987 21 rigged with 2.4's just like the one you mentioned. Ended up with 300 drags in 1998. Very light (1850) - very quick. Retired it that year after I hooked it (driver error) at 120+. A friend is bringing it back to life with 2.4's. Hope he has as much fun as I did.

Cool Anyone know where a 21' is for sale? Consider a 22'

When did the transom go higher? A twin set-up would be the target, either in the tunnels or behind the sponsons. Whichever is the best ride at low speed, if either makes a difference.

I am looking for one w/o power. Thanks.

    Jeff,
I say go for it. Triples baby..... NOX while you are it. This way when I am cruising the Chain-O-Lakes at 125 and a boat goes tearing past me with driver's hair on fire I will know it is you. I thought this was going to be a family cruiser. Ha-Ha-Ha. Add the third motor and put one of the cool hardtops on, if you know what I mean.

Actually the one on the right does look like a new 21' Daytona. I'm attaching a photo of the newer one with higher transom. The 22' - photo also attached - is a deeper boat than the one in the photo.

That would be absolutely insane. Top end would be tough because you would have to use so much down trim or put a ton of weight in the front. I had heard of a 22' Rapid Craft Twister in texas with Triples - that was supposed to rip too.
