New Twister1 find
Thanks to Instigator (Gary W) for finding this one for me and ModVP (Tom H) for bringing it to Jasper today. Notice Gary's cute little touch of posing it in front of an OMC poster announcing a win by them.

Another one. Notice the original MC1 Speedmaster. Except for the wrong plug wires hanging out across the exhaust log I haven't found anything that's not original on the engine, and it supposedly runs also.

I'll give it a test. hook it on the back of the action and we'll see how she runs on some sunoco 110 and alisyn.

I'm gonna find something to hang it on and see if it runs right.

RM that is identical to the one that sits in Shorts Marine parts department. The one at shorts is brand new never run. They will not part with it I have asked everytime I walk in for parts they just say no before I speak now. Rick

It'd be unbelievable to find one that hasn't been run. My red striped one was bought for a pleasure boat and the daughter of the guy I got it from said less than 5 hrs, so I've always said it's probably the nicest on the planet, but an unrun one would be incredible to go with it. I just hope if it ever comes up for sale I can get it bought before Kim hears about it.
One thing I just noticed about this particular engine is that somebody has had a big propshaft put in the MC1, so I don't have a blade for it. Incredibly the previous owner had tried to run it with an aluminum through hub on that gearcase. I've got a couple of other MC1's, and of course SSM's also, so the gearcase/prop problem won't stop me from seein' it spit blue smoke if it's willing.Membership upgrade options: http://www.screamandfly.com/payments.php

Apparently when Don Shorts was alive he is now deceased, he bought every race engine merc made and one more the one more was his to museum and his collection is vast. Years ago I was offered a job and there is a room above the shop full of these engines. Now that the son is running the dealership I hope for him to put these engines out for sale. You will be the first one just dont tell Dave S. Rick

Engine Stand Question for Raceman
Norris, awhile back I seem to remember you saying that an engine stand can make a good outboard motor stand. How did you mount the engine supporting 2x6.? I priced out a Kerr stand that Mercury uses and they are talking 425.00. I don't want to spend that much to support my 300. Thanks, Frank
