    Converting 25'' mid to 20''

I guess the big question is,will a 20'' center bolt to a 25'' swivel bracket?
What else should i take into consideration?

    Thanks Stoney!

    Parts

You can change it on the boat. Just unbolt the 4 long studs and the 3 bolts in the back. Pop the clip off the swivel pin and the exhaust housing will drop off if the swivel splines are not rusted tight. You can push the rolled pin out of the upper shift shaft and pull the shaft as to change the shaft length. Drive shaft to be cut wit hacksaw. Just kidding.

    Thanks Dave!

I thought the housings were exchangable, just wanted to check.I'll leave the drive shaft to a professional!I'am looking at picking up an older 25'' moter to tinker with and would want to change with a 20'' offshore.

    Thanks Stoney!

    I have a similar question . . . Can you bolt a 2.4L powerhead onto a 2.0L mid section?

I have a 1981 merc 225 with a failing trim and tilt unit . . .(leaky cylinder seal, cracked trim lines and a leaky pump) also the bottom of the steering arm tube (part with the clip) has almost disintegrated (rotted to hell).

My friend just blew the powerhead on his 150 XR-2 . . .he's willing to sell me the mid-section and lowerunit. The powerhead on the 225 purrs . . . Before I get all excited . . . I'm hoping that someone can tell me if the early 2.4L powerhead will bolt up to the 150 XR-2 mid-section.

    Hey

Big Shrimp, the powerhead is the same bolt pattern. Thats good about Mercs. The exhaust ports should be the same, and if they are not don't worry about it till you blow somthing and want to change that issue.

    Xr 2 150

I don't Know what year that is but the newer motors have different adaptors if they have the bucket cowl with brackets to hold the cowl. The early ones can interchange but the later ones have different gasket style so be aware of the changes.
