    82 gelcoat restoration

    Hi All,

Recently purchaced a 1982 Rayson Craft boat that a buddy of mine had sold some 6 years ago to help out on down payment of new home. The guy that bought it let it set in the driveway uncovered for most of this time. Damn him! Anyway lots of ozidation. Have tried buffing compound with unsatifatory results. Looks better but not as it did some years ago. Only problem is in some area's the original gelcoat is showing signs of wearing throgh to the next color due to years of polishing and waxing.

Is painting my only option for the new finish I'd prefer?

You can get the spots fixed but in a matter of time if its that bad the rest of the gell might wear off. Id paint it. Stays nicer. Less Maintenance.
