    Question Working the pad?

I've heard lots of guys talk about working the pad on boats. They talk like it's pretty simple. Whats involved? Would think a smooth flat pad with a sharp corner at the rear. On one or two occasions I have heard that some boats haf a "lip" at the back to provide lift. Not sure if i think this makes much sense, especially on the boats that frequent this board. Is this home-in-the-garage work or does it require serious cash and shop work?
    Thanks men!

    Thumbs up PAD WORK

IT WOULD DEPEND ON WHAT TYPE OF BOAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. IF IT IS AN ALLISON YOU NEED TO GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. OR YOU COULD BUST YOUR A**
IT AINT BRAGGING IF YOU BACK IT UP!!!!

    Pads

    TR186driver,
Tunnel boats like a perfectly straight and flat running surface and a razor like exit point coming up the transom. And a 400 grit sandpaper finish works great some guys like to finish with primer.
The A crafts with thier pencil rolls on the pad need to be left to a guy versed in their bottoms as they use these shapes to make the hull lift and a novice with a grinder or sander could ruin the dynamics of the hull and cost a bundle to repair. .

can these "pecil rolls" be seen and/or felt, or are they real subtle? Don't own an Allison, just wondering what to look for, what types are out there.....

    Hey Jay ...............

You say to have a perfectly straight running surface and sharp rear edge. Would this apply to a "kinda" tunnel boat like my AE-21 Hydro ?
I'm re-doing the aft section of the bottom and was kinda wondering what it USED to look like, it's been kinda butchered from previous repairs .
