Do you think this prop will work on my Pontoon??
Question guys. I have a 28ft pontoon with a merc 115 hp inline 6. Stock was a 19pitch aluminum prop but it has some pretty good dings in it (that way when I got it). I alos have a 21 pitch "chopper" style stainless. Would that push that boat at all or would I loose to much bottom end??? Never messed with pontoons & props so I need a little help. Thanks.

Chopper on a pontoon??? Not sure what that would do, I've never heard of anyone trying that. I guess you will never know until you try it.
Usually those aluminum props that are made for pontoon boats with the huge round blades on them seem to work pretty good.
If you try that chopper, you'll have to post how it ran.

I wondering the same thing but not for a pontoon boat... Just got a 22 foot Glastron nose rider yesterday that has the 350 Merc I/O and the same junk 19" aluminum prop.
I'm thinking about putting on my 26" ET to see how well it runs on that. I could give a dayum about how it gets out of the hole if I can get some top end and save gas.David "Tango" Wilks

I would guess you'll need a 14 or maybe a 15". Sell the Chopper and buy a new 'toon boat prop. Most propeller manufactures make propellers specificially for pontoon bosts, with less pitch and large diameter and large area blades. Hope this helps .Bruster's Mercury solid motor mounts, details here:

I think any over hub prop will be a mess on a pontoon and probably never quit ventilating. I'd buy a 3 blade through hub stainless in whatever pitch it needs to operate at the top of the RPM range for that motor. Since you didn't say the year model it's hard to say, but mid fives for an early 1150 and upper for a later one would probably be best. I think Bruce is right with his pitch recommendations and he's dead right with the lugging/frying the motor comment. If you find one of those old stainless blades, they're odd numbers, so a 15 or 17 might be a good place to start.

That prop would be a ventilating/slipping mess on a pontoon !
Get a nice aluminum 14 or 15, otherwise say goodbye pistons on that tower o' power !If it isn't fast, why own it ?
Poor planning by you will never cause me to see the situation at hand as an emergency to me !

Ok guys the 21 did ok. It pulled harder from the start but speed was about 20 mph. The 19 pitch did 15 to 17mph as a comparision. My motor is a 1978 (1150) inline six and I am not sure the RPM it should run but maybe you can answer that for me. My tach that was in the boat has a dial on the back, does that allow me to set it for the motor I run???? As I ran it it didnt sound to lug down but I am not sure and do not want to hurt this motor. by the way the boat I am running this on is a 28 ft Suntracker pontoon with a full hard top which you can put up to 7 people on and a full stand up bathroom and galley. Its a heavy boat and I am not wanting to hit 50 mph but just want the correct set up. I am not sure what the boat weighs but it is a pig and is actually a sort of a tri toon as the center toon comes up the middle 3/4 of the lenght of the boat. So all in all not a bad prop that I have on but still looking for the correct set up. Thanks guys.

Found a new 15 today sitting on a shelf for a few years and bought it for 75.00 with tax. Not to bad for a new prop, hell my last custom hydromotive ( for my other boat)tweeked by hydromotive themselves after riding in my boat was 900.00 so I am happy. As usual thanks to the S&F family.
