1971 16 ft Super Sidewinder
Well a good longtime friend of mine from the Old Country , Freeport , Ny . , Arrowwaves , has got me reminiscing of my days back in the bay . Although this is only a 50 mph boat I have kept it running since my Dad first bought it in 1972 when I was in my sophomore year in High School . Yes , I am old !! This was a magical time in boating history on Long Island with places like O'Neills , Saltair Marine ,K and K Outboard, Al Grovers , Skip Pezolds race shop in Seaford , The Scopiniches out in Westhampton and many other great dealerships back then . Allisons , Checkmates , Kit Kat's , Shadows , Hydrostreams etc . Sidewinders and Tahiti's were a popular brand back then . Although these boats were nowhere near as fast as the STV and Mirage that I now own (I wouldn't be alive right now ) , thats what was around then . I brought this boat with me to Fl. in 83' when I moved down to Hudson , Fl . When I moved here this was my main ride and is an excellent skiboat with a low wake and a 181 CU . IN. ,140 hp IO. for pwer . It uses very little fuel . Well here are a few pics at my shop , hope they look ok . Tom .

And a few more .......
I cant believe i have owned this boat so long and have no action shots , but I guarantee you many of the fishing charter captains of the day would remember this boat ! Actually the best memory of this boat is picking up my wife at a Delta Gamma Rho beach party at Loop Bridge ......we were married five years later and still are , 22 years later !! Long live the Winder .

I have had an outboard model for 6 years and enjoy the he!! out of it. It runs better than 50 but is a handful to hold. I can keep it up on the rounded pad in 3 foot chop and run it hard all the time. Yours does look alot better than mine and mine is getting a little beat but what you want for the way I run it. Mine is a 73 yr 16 ft. Rick

Trust me when I tell you that I have beat this dog over the years !! I have had it vertical in some major Inlets over the years , Jones inlet, Debs Inlet ,Fire Island Inlet , Shinnecock Inlet ,Moriches Inlet , Clearwater Pass , Fl. , Johns Pass , Fl .New Pass , Sarasota Fl . This boat has been around , I have done two motors , and one drive in all these years . Trim cylinders and a few steering cables , one fuel tank and two interiors , oh and one floor job . I don't use it a whole lot any more but I keep it alive for skiing purposes . Thanks for the replies !
