prop info needed, 10' tunnel hull

I had my tunnel out today ( the Catch 10 I bought from VW freak) and I need more prop. It's a 10' boat with a stock XD25 Merc. I've got the motor up to where the prop shaft is about an inch below the tunnel. I have a stock 13p merc prop on it now and it is a bit hard to get on plane when trimmed up (It really cavitates till you get rolling) and is really spun out at top speed. The whole rig is around 500# with driver. The boat is essentially the same as a Mini GT rig, but I want to run a stainless prop if I can find one. If I do race it, it will be with a alum. prop.

I would guess the thing to run about 40 now, with ease, like there is no load on the motor. It just doesn't pick up enough speed to air out. It actually runs faster into the wind, in chop.

Any help or info on reputable prop suppliers would help. I sell Mich. and Ballistic, but that's it. I would really like a race type prop.

    Thanks, Ron

I'll try to put up a pic, all I have is one I got from Scott, who I bought the boat from. You get the idea what it looks like.

    Thumbs up

Good to hear you had it out! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. I sure did!
I'm still working on getting the Mirage together, but hope to get it in the water very soon. (need an OMC race type trim system still & that's all)
Wow, do I ever miss that little tunnel hull. I'm sure that will lessen once the new tunnel is together.
You can see now why I wanted to put a 40hp on it. It wants to go faster.
I have tons of pics, here's a few of the hull in closer detail.

ron, I had one of those little choppers, the smallest they make is an 18 pitch. with that style hull, you should be able to spin it 6000. the flat bottom aluminum boat that I put it on was downright scary at anything more than 3/4 throttle.

    18P Chopper..

That seems like a lot of prop for a 25HP. I ran one on a Voodoo with a 50 Yammy, I guess it depends on gearing and hull weight. That would be scary fun, if it makes plane, especially with no trim.

I had it out again today with a 14 1/2 pitch Michigan prop. It's hard to get on plane at full trim, but it's picking up speed and starting to actually load the motor. I put a whoopin' on a Checkmate with a 115

I'm going to have a friend who owns a prop shop dump all the pitch and cup into it he can.

    Nice!
I really glad to see that you're enjoying my old hull, and more importantly.
    You're making her faster!

All going well, I should be getting the Mirage in the water this weekend!

Send an email to Ole terjesen, in Norway in the eighties he'd run in the 80's (kph) 50 mph + in a similar setup :

    Prop-clever,chopper

Hard to find for small motors. I just got a Ballistic 10-1/8 x 15 for my 35 merc on my 10 ft centurian tunnel. Got it from Gary at www.deltaprop.com Going to try it Tuesday. About $270 with tax. LakeRaider

Advertise in ABPA propeller or find some racers or ex racers

I got this advice years ago and it worked for me.
