Canadian Edition vision- Mercury xri 200

I have recently set up my 88 Vision with a 91 Merc XRI 200 with Low water pick-up and nose cone. My boat was originally rigged for an omc and I have converted it to merc.

I plan on buying all new gauges in the near future but for the time being I Wondered if my OMC tachometer would work with the proper wiring harness.

Also I wanted to know if anyone had any information on seting the boat up to get the best performance. As of now, I have the motor as high on the transom as possible and I am running a 25 Raker. I have a 28 chopper and a 30 chopper that I am hesitant to try until I get my Tach set up. It running mid 70's right now and I want to get it set up to run in the high 80's.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Joel

    Vision

    Hi Joel

Don't see many Vision's here. Mine is an 88 as well. Motor is a 1750 mounted 6 inches back and a little under 4 inches below the pad (have been told that this boat doesn't really need the setback). Lower unit has no cone. Prop is a A5 26 Chopper with the weed cutters. It runs a little over 70 GPS. I've tried a couple different props like a 28 inline chopper and a 24 drag. Best prop I've tried was a 29 SRX. Post a couple of pics of your Vision. This shot was taken the last weekend of May at Sean's PBCC Season Opener on Crystal Lake...

I drove the first Vision out of the mold in November of '86 or '87. It was only rigged with a Merc 100 4 cyl and was pretty much a waste of time for speed. Glad to see they respond to power. With their wider pads I thought they might be flighty.
A guy in our trailer park (Birdsall Beach, on Rice Lake, ON) has one now with a 115, but only uses it for skiing.
