Tilt & Trim For Short Shaft Evinrude?

I've been looking for a TandT for a 79' three cyl. 75hp Evinrude.
The places I've called have given me the same answer, as soon as I tell them it's a short shaft I hear " Good luck those engines are kind of rare".
Is this really true? Or should I start checking into something like a CMT trim?
Maybe design one of my of own.

    Any suggestions?

They are "rare" because the factory never made trim and tilt for the 15" three cylinders. There was a race trim only system that uses a horizontal ram that extends through the transom. Fairly simple system to fabricate except for the bracket to attach the ram to the engine. If it would help, I can probably find a scan showing how it goes together.

The aftermarket bracket would be the easiest if the setback and weight are not a problem.

    CMC Trim unit

I just purchased a CMC PT-130 trim unit for my 1975 75hp Stinger.
It weighs approx. 60lbs, and sets your motor back about 5"
There are a few other similar systems out there too.

    Thanks Guys

That explains a lot, but it's not really what I wanted to hear. Oh well.
Barry, if it's not to much trouble that scan would be great.
I just checked out the price on the PT-130, Ouch, that's about five times
what I payed for the boat and motor. It is a nice thought though.

    Thanks again

Keep your eyes open. They pop up here & there.
    Try E-bay too.
Got mine right here on S&F for $200 USD.

Steve - You stole that engine if you got it for 1/5 the price of the PT-130

This attachment is a composite of a couple pages from the SST60 part book. The #5 part on the left is the key piece. Similar to the one circled in the scan vwfreak posted which is from an old OMC race parts catalog. The transom bracket is reversed in the drawing. Normally would be mounted with the cylinder mount forward and the ram extending back through the transom to the #5 bracket.

Hope that helps. And if anyone has a spare bracket or other pieces, I need one.

    Barry,

Thanks for taking the time. That pic will make a good start for building one.
I did something similar to it on a 35hp Merc.
It's good to know that I got a deal on the engine.
To be honest the guy down the street gave the $100 for the boat + motor.
He gave it to me for putting a new floor on his pontooner.
