Installing Electric fuel pump on Looper, do I need to remove the VRO Pump?
I bought Carter electric fuel pump for my 89' GT-200 OMC Looper. Can I dissconect the oil and fuel lines going to the VRO and just leave the VRO on the motor.....or should I pull the entire VRO assembly off?
ThanksIan

Yeah pull it off go to the local hot rod shop and get a pipe plug anodized in your choice of colors to plug the hole in the front half. Use loctite P.S.T. on the threads to ensure a good seal. Whats the pump P.S.I.,and did you get a regulator?

Carter Pump
I hope you at least got the one the delivers approx 70gph@7psi, anything less and you may run into fuel delivery problems. I was running that pump for a while but after a few more mods, it started starving for fuel when at 7,000+ rpm. I changed to the 100gph and cured that problem. Ideal pressure should be approx 5.5 psi but I've been running the 100 gph pump with 7 psi for about four years and I've never had a problem with it blowing by the seats and still running the same needle/seats. I do have a regulator but have never installed it.

Ben...it's the Carter pump that flows 72 gph (I think ) at around 4-6 psi. I didn't get a regulator because others on the board have said that I would not need one with this pump.

Pump
Like the others said, remove the VRO, plug the block where the pressure line connects and run it. I would seriously doubt you would have any problems on a basically stock motor. Just be sure you use a relay to operate it. I miss stated one thing, the first one I ran was the 4 psi instead of 7 psi and it worked fine to 6,800. When I went to the 100 gph, I also went to the 7psi just to make sure it I was covered.
