What's your favorite color scheme or style on a boat??
Vote! You can choose more than one
Hopefully These categories will cover most cosmetic boat stylings:
Metalflake Polular with 1970's and 1980's Hydrostreams and such, also fade metalflake.
Solid colors Keeping it simple!
2 colors In straight lines, (and sometimes with a black false windscreen.) Common with STV's, usually white and one other color. Or, when hull and deck are each their own solid color.
Multi-color stripes usually with 4 or more gel colors, against a solid color background, arranged into stripes, boxes, and/or zig-zag patterns. Late 80's/early 90's Hydrostreams, "West Coast" style pickleforks, etc.
Boat art Flames, "tear-away", drips, stars, splatters, asymmetrical shapes etc.

Tough call for me between multi-color and metalflake. I'll always love metalflake though - I guess that's because I remember spotting Hydrostreams so easily that way when I was little. The 'Silver Streak' color scheme was always my favorite.

Color scheme
Always liked this scheme on a hydrostream.....Saw a V-king like this last year that was black with the stripes in blue. Awesome stripes in my book. Not to many out there with this scheme from what I've seen.

Post a new thread about the chalky fade in tech discussion, you'll get your answers best that way.

Other
I voted for other because I real don't have a favorite, but the results are interesting. Using our sales as my guideline metalflake would be last and boat art would be first. We spray them what people order and will do and have done all of the above. I think we are currently selling a lot of boat art "tear-away" because people haven't seen it around and want something different. Mercury wanted a tear-away Venom for their brochure because it really stands out, I do my demo in tear-away for the same reason. No matter where I take it,, it gets the WOW!!!
My personal boats consist of:
1 Solid
1 Boat Art
2 Multi-color Strip
1 Metalflake
2 Aluminum
Favorite position on the list is based on performance!Last edited by Stream 1; 10-28-2005 at 05:25 PM.

Pyro
What would you call my boat?
It has a pearl red paint that uses actual metal flakes (very small ones) for the pearl effect.
It has ghost flames, but unless you see it close up in person it looks one color.
It has a subtle fade front to back that isn't easy to notice at first either.
So is it solid color, flake, boat art or other? Just curious.
Personally I can think of great looking boats from all the classes you mentioned, and boats that gagged me from each too. So it comes down to execution.

My Uncle worked for "Metalflake Corp." in Haverhill, MA for over 15 years. there are still old jars and bags of flake in my mothers cellar. Green and gold were popular at the time. My brother used to collect the various colors of flake my uncle would bring him. I still remember the first time I saw the foil cutter. the machine was about 30 feet long, and could cut multiple sizes of flake. What a mess in the cutting room after a run! The company has been gone about 20 years now, but I still remember.......

Keep It Simple
I'm a fan of solid colors myself, there just so easy to redo.
I've always had a huge crush on the classic Hydrostream metal flakes.
Flames look great if you go all out like Wildmans art pieces.
I also like the simple two tone STV look.
I just have to add I hate that tear look on that red and white Venom but Clyde's Venom looks sweet (Solid Color)
Just my opinion sorry Stream1A Moron Brother
