How does this project look?
My $300.00 junkyard boat and motor, and my $700.00 trailer have finally made it to the 95% complete mark, I think
Last year I brought the whole rig home for $1000.00. Everyone laughed at me and told me that I must be nuts, and said that it would never see the water again. My cousin said, "I thought you said that you got a boat", then he busted out laughing for 10 minutes.
Here it is, one year later!
Here are the things that I have done with no help from anyone! I wouldn't let anyone else touch it because the people that I know wouldn't give 100% or want to spend the kind of time that I think it deserves!
( 4 months of fiberglass, 1 week sanding, priming, and painting, new deck fillers both sides, 2- 14 gallon gas tanks, replaced ignition switch, replaced every single wire in boat except engine harness and control box, new water pump seals and impeller, nose cone was already on the engine, water pressure gauge, temp gauge, overheat sensor R/H, temp sensor L/H, new thermostats, new poppet valve assembly, bilge pump and hose, horn, carpet, Sea Star hydraulic steering was given to me by a friend, hydraulic hoses, Holley Blue fuel pump and regulator, fuel pressure gauge, water seperator, disassemble carbs and cleaned them, replaced spark plugs, flushed lower unit and replaced fluid, installed Hopkins modified 24 pitch chopper prop, new bow and stern lights, raised engine to 1" below the pad. It can't go any higher with my current Hi-Jacker jack plates, painted engine and lower unit, new (speed ) pitot tube, new fuse boxes, and accessory pull switches, new battery, battery switch, seats )
I have a Bobs torque tab in my shop that I still need to install soon.
I learned 90 percent of everything about restoring my boat from this website, including how to paint, fiberglass, wire, setup, cooling, and fuel flow! I have spent at least one hour reading posts every day for over a year now! If I had not found this website, the boat would still be in the junkyard waiting to be chopped up into little pieces!
My wife made some graphics for the cowling and sides of the hull. She owns a signs and graphics company.
Do you think that the graphics look dumb? I have only applied them to one side so far!
I put the words "Custom Stroke" and "High-Performance" on the engine just to leave people confusedLast edited by Rush; 04-16-2005 at 10:32 AM.

More Photos
Here is a photo of the hull after fiberglass and primer. My computer crashed and I lost the photos of when I first got the whole deal, last year. Now I backup everything once a week, at least!

Missing S&F decals!!!! HA HA
Well, looks good!
But I'm worried about those seats!
Would look good with some yellow racing seats!!!“The bitterness of poor quality & service remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”

Great job on the boat. I am another person that started a rebuild of a boat that should have gone to the crapper. But with the help of S&F, a little blood and alot of sweat its almost completed.

The boat looks cool! What I have learned is that the joy one is getting from a boat is symmetrical with how much effort you make into it as long as you know what you are doing! Set-up is the way to go to be happy with a performance boat.... Blow your competitors away!!!!

i think you've done an excellent job! to me, half the fun is bringing back these old boats back to life. and when you do get to drive it, you have a great feeling of accomplishment!
