After this election year I don't want to start a political thread but I wondered if anyone had any comments on this about the media's action/inaction.

Rumsfeld. See all the hype with everyone cranking on him the last week or so? Now the guy has done some major things like these wars, transforming the military...all at the same time and with results that are sometimes stellar. Regardless, what is up with the media on this? I don't see them telling me who makes the protective plating for the hummer, what their production is, why we don't have a warehouse full of them, etc, etc, etc. Are they flat out lazy or what? They fed that guy the question and then they will not even play his response, just the sound-bite that tells nothing. If you like Rumsfeld or not, why is it no media can tell me a thing about what is going on, what has been done, and so on? They are scared to death to say all this equipment is from the Clinton years, if fact scared to death to say anything apparently. Could it be when scott got sentanced to death they had nothing in the hopper? IMHO they are totally worthless. This is not news, its just a rumor mill for someone's agenda until they have some facts. That includes Fox as well.

Incidently, I heard some lawyers are paying up to $10 a shot to get their name at the top of the list on a search engine for vioxx....so I got on google and hit refresh a few times.

No, nobody warehouses a thing these days. It could be as simple as nobody figuring they would be using RPGs like crazy, or that we would be using hummers that way.


It just POs me because you can stand in front of a courthouse for a year saying the same things plus the latest bit of progress that comes out (while I turn the channel) and I guess people like it. But, in this case they could and should go find all this stuff out and tell me...isn't that what they do (used to do)? Just what are they on the tube for then? Why should I have to ask??? Why should they ever tell me something without backing it up ASAP? Of course this is not the only thing, just a good current example.

Then they don't ask obvious questions, like since the fighting has been largely over for so long what is the state dept doing? Why is the military still playing policeman all alone? Maybe there is a perfectly good reason, but I have been checking the news regular for some time now and see nothing about it.

Intersting fact overlooked as well. When the conflict began there were @ 530 armored humvees in Iraq, now 18 months later there are @ 15,000 & the plants are working 24hrs a day, how can the media honestly claim nothing is being done???? This information is readily available, why dont they use it??? Its all about ratings...."a new school opened to muslim women today" doesnt get as many ratings as "american soldiers killed in conflict with unarmed innocent civilians while scrounging for armor for their humvees, who can we blame?" and SHO is right thats just the tip of the Iceberg. unfortunately they can do whatever they want, that is freedom. But we like millions of other citizens are free to find alternate news sources, and have.....the big 3 networks wonder why viewship is down across the board for new viewership.....

I've been lookin' for an E I got about a month ago about armored HumV's, but can't find it. It was SUPPOSEDLY penned by a couple of Generals, now retired who felt that Hummers were never intended to be armored vehicles in the first place, and when the weight of the armor was added it made em severely deficient in other areas, and possible just as dangerous if not more so, but from different perils. They were basically saying that we needed armored vehicles that were so designed from the beginning instead of trying to turn mobility units into armored ones. They also had a lot to say about the previous administration together with their buddies in Congress killing funding for such a vehicle that the Defense Department had requisitioned. I don't have a clue whether hummers with armor are safer in the long run than those without, but what I do know is that the media will do anything within it's reach to discredit the present administration and lay any deficiencies in the war squarely in it's lap. Unfortunately, as a whole it's become little more than a propoganda effort for the liberal/socialist conspiracy in this country. I would REALLY like to see some media controls in this country, at least to the extent of REQUIRING free and equal air time for opposing viewpoints on their one sided reported.

I would say I checked Fox 75% of the time the last few days, and they would indeed have Mr/General/whomever talking head on from each side. The problem is one would say X is the problem and the other say Y is problem...later two different mouths would say A and B are the problems...it didn't tell me what all the issues and problems are at all, just two opinions that were often not well backed though I'll give them they were only ~60 seconds long. I waited for a REPORTER to tell me something from their investigation and none did.

Like you are saying, is this the proper use of the hummer? What else do they use? What about other troop carriers? Is someone to blame here or was this not forseen? I did see a thing saying the extra weight is bad for the vehicle, more wear, lower speeds, etc.

That digging in the scrap pile story really sounded corny. Same deal, nobody I saw got on that very well...just some nondescript background on the vehicle. Hard to imagine bullet-proof jeeps in WWII aint it?

The guys I worked with were in during Clinton, they told me big horror stories about it.

Thanks for the links. Still not seeing much on the news but they are admitting it is more of a political game. Yeah, we need a new Bradley!

The libs always want it both ways; remember Kerry going on and on about more drugs faster and from Canada/etc....now here they are all PO'ed because some of them a killing people. DUH! Pill for everything, what do you expect. All that dope is not a good thing, never has been. Oops that was an illegal historical reference according to them...we must strive to ignore history for the most part.... how could I forget. Either way the lawyers make a bundle...oh wait, bad drugs make then even more....that we pay!

What makes sense...went to see Grandma last night right, and she is 91 I think and can't hardly walk or get up because of such bad joint pain in her legs and knees. So I say hey, you are going to get in trouble if you lose your mobilty....what is doc doing about your legs? Nothing. Ever had a shot in your knees/etc like cortizone I ask...yes...did it help...yes for a while...had one lately, like this last year when you really are having a hard time getting around....no. Dah. If she can't get around she certainly will be in a box soon from other problems, yet here they are doing nothing for her. She gets weaker and develops other problems like kidney infections because she can't get around, and has a sucky quality of life. She has always been very mobile/able and is still sharp as a tack with no other major health problems...yet. She is sitting there with a heat pad on her knees, so we are trying to get her another doctor that has a clue. In this case, maybe a drug is the answer. She says she has no pain meds but I don't know what she can't have or why yet. It is winter here, so I ask her if the doc said to change the temp/moisture in the house or offered you legs socks/etc...."no." She complains about having to go in for tests all the time and having to sit there for up to 4 hours in the hard chairs...wt# is my only comment. I'm not in the medical field but I bet you I have a 99% chance that one of the things I pointed out here would help her some.

Same thing there; does this doctor just suck? Or do they have liberaly-generated reasons for not doing anything for her...like liabilty requiring a million tests before action, etc, or taking up all the doctors time. I'll not see it on the news though.
