    What should I do

    I have a 2002 21' Rally sport w/ a same year 200 carb merc. The motor has limits that I hit around 5800. I'm running a 26p big ear chopper I think. I was told that some cup was taken out. I have a 10 inch Bob's jack plate that I run mostly down do to lack of lower pick up. It seems to have good lift but I think I can get more top end out of it. I think I'm running mid to upper 60's. Should I worry about a nose cone seeing I'm under 80. Should I add some cup. It wants to surface but not sure about water pressure. Can anyone point me in a direction.

    TO BEGIN WITH YOU NEED TO GET TRUE MEASUREMENT OF HOW YOUR BOAT IS PERFORMING RIGHT NOW BY USING A GPS AGAINST TACH READINGS. IF YOU ARE RUNNING THE JACK PLATE ALL THE WAY DOWN YOU ARE SCRUBBING OFF TOP END PERFORMANCE. IS THE PLATE MANAUAL OR HYD.?? YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE A GOOD WATER PRESSURE GAGE AND TEMPERATURE GAGE. IF THE PLATE IS A HYD. JACK PLATE BEGIN RAISING THE PLATE AS THE BOAT INCREASES IN SPEED. KEEP AN EYE ON THE WATER PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE AS YOU ARE EXCELLERATING. CONTINUE TO RAISE THE PLATE AND INCREASE YOUR TRIM TO A POINT WHERE YOU FIND THE "SWEET SPOT" AND THAN TAKE A GPS READING. THE MORE TIME YOU SPEND BEHIND THE HELM PLAYING WITH JACK PLATE A TRIM SETTINGS THE BETTER YOUR TOP END SPEED WILL BE. LOOK TOWARDS SIMPLE BOLT ON PERFORMANCE FOR YOUR 200. ( REEDS, RELIEVED EXHAUST, VENTS IN THE COWL, ETC) A NOSE CONE WILL NOT HELP UNTIL 75+MPH. GOOD LUCK.

    JUPITER PULSARE

    Thanks for the info. I just got the boat. As soon as I'm done writing this, I'm going to get a hand held GPS. I'm going out tomorrow for a full day of testing. I have Gaffrig guages that all work. Jackplate is hydro. I didn't think a nose cone would help. I will mess around with some props when I learn some more. I was thinking of reeds, airhorns, trying to remove the limits and maybe shave the heads to raise a couple of points. Don't know about the last one. I have a Alien Cow on it now. What are your thoughts?

    FIRST GET A GOOD "FEEL" FOR DRIVING THE BOAT THE WAY IT IS SET UP RIGHT NOW. SHOOT FOR THE MAXIMUM SPEED YOU CAN ATTAIN AT THE HIGHEST JACKPLATE AND TRIM SETTINGS WHILE MAINTAINING GOOD PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE. YOU CAN THAN BEGIN PLAYING WITH PROPS, REEDS, EXHAUST,ETC.
