E-Tec is looking good
Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I don't think it has been brought up in this forum:
I just read the latest B&WB. The eTec spanked both the Verado and a whole bunch of 90hp engines in 2 separate tests. Although I have never owned a Johnson or Evinrude, I makes me quite excited.
What do you think?Markus' Performance Boating Links:

E-tec
We have sold three 90hp E-tec's this year and they seem to be holding up pretty well. one is used on a comercial oyster boat that sees a lot of hours!. ( good test!). cant wait till the V-6 motors are ready.
I think they will give those F$#%ing four strokes a run for their money!!

I am looking closely with interest at the e tec's, I need a bit of convincing before i but one. i have just converted one of my 28ft ferrys into our new garbage boat, going from twin perkins 4.236's to a single yam 225 fourstroke, i personaly would have prefered a suzuki but the boss has spoken, however, i reckon that a fourstoke will last longer than a two with that kind of work. tell me your thoughts.

Glad to see the two strokes staying a little longer, and I think Mercury Marine needs some competition..

I wouldn't bet on the 4 strokes Rama
That is supposed to be where the ETEC motors really shine is in their service life.

I like the shape/weight and exhust note of the E-Tec took a 90Hp for a run on a 17 foot Ski boat and it performed flawlessly (sp)for a 90,just thought another 25 or 30 Hp in that size would really be fun on smaller hulls.

I'm not very impressed with a 200 hp 600lb package, the Verado. But if this is just an entry level performer? I think it should be popping out more ponies than what it is. 200 hp for a 400lb? engine with a blower sounds pretty anemic to me.

A etec 50 hp engine did a entry in our V50 class last race ,did not last long , the dampers broke and the boat flipped. This is extreme use on a offshore racer and would probably not happen on a regular boat. runs real smooth tho.
