Hey Texas Laser owners I do have one question on something that has been bothering us. When we put the nose of the boat in the air it seems to lean just a little to the left not much just a little. Do you all know what this is???? We have 3
live wells and we thought that might be doing it so we kept them empty one time and
it still did it??? KANSAS LASER PUZZLED

that's just a one of the characteristics of a Laser... i've read that it's due to the hull/pad design. Look at all of Matt's old race boat pics, and u will see all the 380's doing the same

the Laser's don't have a flat pat like lots of other boats and I would imagine that may have somethin to do with it... I will ask dad if there is a specific reason today if I get a chance.

Hey guys I really appreciate you sharing your laser know how with me. You all have been a great help. You know you will think we are crazy here in Kansas but we are
very proud of our boat. I think we are the only Laser owners here, we get ask all the
time what kind of boat it is. But of course you must admit living in the dust bowl
region NOT A LOT OF WATER!! LOL

OH MY GOSH, that is great! We would get picked off by the water patrol if we did that here!! We have had ours up to 50 and it still had more to go but decided that
would be a bad move--don't need to get our state parks tag taken away. Your boat
looks great---how does it feel to do 90? Lakes are so full of tubbers, skiers that you
take a chance of not being able to shut down fast enough to miss one with out
    swamping your boat.

You would get locked up there now as well. The place got so overrrun by jet skiis that I believe the whole place is now a no wake zone. Where I live now the state speed limit is 45, so you have to pick your spots.

Had more sense? You mean came to my senses. I did have a lot of fun with my old cross flows and looper.

Interesting information on the Laser boats. I picked up a 1987 Laser LTV last fall. The hull is sound, transom, floor and core. Some stress cracks on upper deck. Looks like a keeper. There is what I assume is flotation foam under bow and in each corner of the stern. The stern area around the foam is completely enclosed so cannot see the foam directly. However, this foam seems to be saturated as water seeps from the sponson drains for several days after using the boat. I am wondering if it would be wise to remove this foam, although not sure how without dismantling part of he hull. I can see into area thru 3" holes on rear deck used for ventilation. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    FastLaser,

yup...it sounds like your foam is full of water...which means... it's really heavy now. It needs to be removed and possibly replaced with a different type flotation. Most likely its just the foam in the rear is wet. I'd leave the front if it is still dry.

My '83 LTV is a comp hull...so it has no flotation in it at all... i just hope i don't sink it.. LOL!!

you may be able to cut out the wood that contains the foam and chip away the wet foam... you may want to do a search on this site.. i am sure the subject has been brought up before.

Hey clamponracing I live in Merriam KS we are about 1 hr from Hillsdale lake and about 45 min from Smithville lake in Mo. I do not know spring river but I will look it up.
We like to go different places with our boat. I don't know about you but we just love
our laser. We did not know anything about the boat when we bought it but I started
looking up the name on the net. When we found out what we had bought and the great shape it was in we felt very lucky. It had been stored inside it is still on the original trailer and has the original cover. It has a 175 Merc on it and when my husband puts his foot into it the boat sits up on it's rear and really takes off. I love it when people ask us what kind of boat it is no one here has heard of them. It is a
    great performing boat!!!
