Too bad Smokey's still not around. He could have run as vice-prez with Arnie!! Oops, wrong thread. He could have shown congress a thing or two about bending the rules. That autographed shirt would be a neat thing to have. Arnie shows up quite a bit in the Chicago area. He has a booth at an annual Buick-Pontiac-Olds swap meet. There's also the Arnie Romp at Route 66 dragstrip. He is always at the National Pontiac Convention also. A couple times Smokey was there giving lectures. I could just hear him," I know the fuel tank can only hold so much BUT if ya zigzag the fuel line thru every nick and cranny of the car, you can pick up another two gallons." Jim Wangers is always at the Pontiac meets adorn with a cheap and I mean REALLY cheap, toupe. The chrome air cleaner lid on my 68 GTO is signed by Arnie. Seems like someone posted a pic awhile back of a sign down the corner from Smokeys pointing to his garage. Maybe it was even you?? Sorry for jumping around on topics. It's Friday, ya know.

The GTO should be cool. I have a Pontiac corner at my place-models of Fireball Roberts gold and black 62 poncho (built by Yunick), the Jolly Green Giant GTO(by Beswick), pair of the GeeTo Tiger GTO's (signed to me from Wangers), autographed photo of Arnie launching his exhibition car. Another 62 dragcar built by Beswick. Is it Packer Pontiac ?? ****, I can't even remember. The Hurst shifter glove. An Avon cologne bottle with Chief Pontiac on top. I'm not real current on the Arnie models. Have to get going. There's also a Royal Pontiac 62 Catalina coming out soon. I THINK the Beswick 62 Superduty Tempest is already out there. For some reason, I can't get into Beswick in a ...Firebird.

You mean the bossbird, worse yet I saw a picture of Beswick in a CHALLENGER. AAAAACCCCKKKKKK !!! like a 72, It was a previously owned car, maybe an attenpt to stay in funnycars after his garage fire. Whatever it was I didn't like seeing it.

If you have limited wall space, check out these pictures. Nowhere near as good as Ibusuki's but their $24.00 with a walmart $10.00 frame and only about 14x17 with the frame.

He has a bunch more Don Gays 65 AWB GTO, Lou Arrington's AWB 65 GTO, even Beswicks station wagon and his Super Judge funny car.

You're right. He was briefly a Chrysler guy. I forgot all about that. He then more or less disappeared. He was also at the matchrace when Richard Petty drove his dragcar thru the fence and into the crowd. It was Beswick that got him out of the place from the pissed off crowd. Responding to your earlier question, Beswick lives over by Cordova, Illinois. Thats on the west side of the state. The Gays had nice cars-especially the early GTO with straight axle and blower. Other biggies were Arlen Vanke and Jess Tyree. And of course, Mickey Thompson. My dad recently told me they'd caught the guy who killed Thompson and his wife. I guess it was a business partner. As I recall, the A/FX Tempest that beswick had was originally a Thompson car. I've got a book at home that traces all those cars and their histories.

This would be a nice project for someone that likes gassers, I'm going to do one this winter but as a pro-street 41 willys, I'm using an Outlaw body and chassis.
