    Post transom repair 2

    After talking with Mike @Checkmate I pulled the top cap( what a job)I am glad I did even though it was a lot of work I think it was the way to go.Heres a couple of pics

    can you cut off the inner fiberglass skin that holds ther transom in? If so, it shouldn't be too much work to glass in a new transom.

    I removed everything including the horizontal brace all the way to the glass on the outside of the transom the fiberglass on the inside of the transom was part of the wood.So out it went.This project may be on hold 'cause I found a 15ft baja that I may get.

    To answer your question when I talked to Mike @ checkmate he did not mention anything about not removing the inner fiberglass I really dont know how you could replace it any other way.

    Just make sure you leave the outter skin attached. Inner skin is where you need to remove,grind and installed new wood and a glass skin

    I meant the inner skin. It looks like you got it out, along with the wood. Good job. Putting in a new transon is cake!
    Unfortunately, it's 1:40 am and I'm exhausted. I'll tell ya how ta do it tomorrow.
