Smile 1965 Mercury Outboard sales brochure

    Hi Guys:

I just scored a very nice 1965 Mercury Outboard sales brochure from E bay. I want to share it with everyone, and I will scan the pages for downloading. Beautiful pictures of the engines, and a little known fact. Mercury made a record LP called “Sound Engineering” that they used to give away to promote the quietness of the engines among other things. There is a picture and description of it on the back cover. Imagine what a collectable find that would be today !! Anyway, I will try to get this thing scanned over the weekend and post for all to enjoy, it really is quite good. Cheers!!

    Cool, Thanks George.
We will be looking forward to it.
I sure wish there was a good place to store all this info.
I have most of the 70's Merc, Evinrude and Johnson and some HP stuff. I would like to scan in .pdf format for down loads.

Adobe makes some freeware to make .pdf's now, but I don't know how much utility it has compared to the $200 full Acrobat or $400-$700 professional Photoshop software.

Most people find the Acrobat reader a little clunky compared to Quicktime.

Adobe products work fine for me...I have Acrobat and Photoshop. I just liked the way Mark C did the media section of IHR.
File format makes no difference to me, lets just get this stuff online.

Smile Check out SUN's Star Office for PDF creation

Guys, If you want great software for editing, imaging, scanning etc, download Sun's Star Office, it beats the hell out of MS office and its virtually free. You can convert any document into a PDF at different resolutions. It has virtually all of MS- Office functionality and a fantastic drawing and image program too. I use it all the time.

    http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/index.html

Trust me its great, don't waste your money on MS office if you don't need to, better spent on gas this year.

    Angry pissed off at computers

Well, I got the scans done, but they will not post! I scanned at 75 dpi, the smallest I could and they are still too big to upload. Any ideas?

    George,
Scan each page and save it as a jpeg. Use your image software or browser to see how big (footprint the image is) you may need to resize it. How big is the brochure you are scanning ie 8.5 x 11 etc. If so it will produce an image which is too big for this site. but you can reduce it and still make it readable. You may need to scan at a higher resolution and then reduce the image. If you still have a problem, send me one page and I will see what I can do.

Post them to the gallery instead of here....there is less image size restriction there compared to here.

Looking forward to it George... If you want, we could add it to our Multimedia section. I have a nice 1966 Mercury brochure I will be adding when I return to Florida.

    Talking MK30H tell you what....

MK30H, I will do better than that. I will burn you a disk of high res scans so you can have a nice copy of your own and can play with sizing the images. I work on Leslie Street in TO, tell me where you want me to drop off the disk if you want it.
